Senior Device Technician
Otsuka America Pharmaceutical, Inc. (OAPI) is a successful, innovative, fast-growing healthcare company that commercializes Otsuka-discovered and other product opportunities in North America, with a strong focus on and commitment to neuroscience, cardiovascular and gastrointestinal therapeutic treatments.
Otsuka is seeking a Senior Device Technician to conduct research, modifications, repairs, and testing on electronic instruments and to provide technical assistance to customers and employees regarding the instruments operation and performance, and troubleshoots instrument malfunctions.
The specific duties of the Senior Device Technician, include the following:Set up, test, repair and calibrate instruments to ensure they are operating within specifications. Conduct routine through complex preventative maintenance and repairs. Report needs for parts for instrument repair and alert when supplies are low. Compile and statistically analyze test results. Provide service reports to the technical services supervisor and Quality Control for review in timely manner.Assist in recommending design changes to the manufacturer. Perform all job functions within the guidelines of Quality Control, regulatory, and safety requirements (including FDA and ISO/cGMP). Assist daily with providing technical service/information via telephone directly to customers and employees in the Sales Department to include but not limited to: troubleshooting installation or operation problems, answering questions pertaining to the instruments� operation and performance, thoroughly documenting and logging all calls and complaints.Prepare and review procedures for Technical Services group. Submit changes to the Technical Services Supervisor for review. Participate in updating Standard Operating Procedures.
The successful candidate must meet the following minimum requirements:Associate's degree in Electrical EngineeringPrefer 1 year (2 semesters) of chemistry or 2 years (4 semesters) of life science2 years experience servicing infrared equipment or 4 years servicing medical devices1 year experience in Customer ServiceSome knowledge of medical equipment utilizing infrared technology Knowledge of data collection and analysisKnowledge of Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Excel, Word) and database functionsGood Documentation Practices per FDA guidelinesAbility to work independently and solve problems using information extracted from testing data and verbal or written descriptions.Ability to research problems and determine root causes and appropriate corrective or preventative actions to resolve them.Analytical thinking and attention to detailsExcellent verbal and written communication skills including listening and discerning problems. Provide clear instructions or information to people with a variety of technical (or non-technical) backgrounds.Excellent documentation skillsMust be able to see, hear, speak and write clearly in order to communicate with employees and/or other customers Manual dexterity required for reaching and lifting of small objects, and operating office equipment. Heavy lifting up to 65 pounds required.
