Senior Director, Compound Development Team Leader - (Job Number: 0803075) DescriptionTibotec, Inc., a member of Johnson & Johnson's Family of Companies, is recruiting for a Senior Director, Compound Development Team Leader, located in Yardley, Pennsylvania. Tibotec Pharmaceuticals Ltd. discovers and develops anti-retrovirals for the management of HIV/AIDS and anti-infectives. The company currently has anti-retrovirals in clinical development in both the no n-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor and protease inhibitor classes. TIBOZOLE (miconazole nitrate 10 mg) is a muco-adhesive tablet containing miconazole for once daily topical treatment of oro-pharyngeal candidiasis, the most common opportunistic infection in people with HIV/AIDS in Africa. The Compound Development Team Leader (CDTL) is responsible for the full development of an innovative compound for the treatment of HCV (PI class). The CDTL leads the Compound Development Team (CDT) and chairs the Compound Development Team Meetings, drives the Compound Strategy decision-making, leads the development and maintenance of the Development Plan and Compound lifecycle Strategy, and is responsible for smooth phase transitions, including global registration activities of the compound. Manages successful cross-functional development and execution of the Development Project Plan, ensures clear team goals and objectives with the team, aligns the CDT to achieve its goals through the networks of people/functions represented on the team and evaluate the team performance with the team, as well as the following: Provides performance feedback to functional managers on CDT team members, identifies issues and leads contingency planning, contributes to the overall Company Strategy as a standing member of the Tibotec Development Management Committee (DMC), leads resolution of conflicts at the CDT and DMC levels for his/her project, and leads CDT problem-solving and provides decision-making tools and techniques. Additional responsibilities include: Leads the communication of strategy and plans to the DMC, the Tibotec Management Board (TMB), CDT members, development partners, and other key stakeholders, identifies critical risks and assumptions and transparently communicates them to the CDT, DMC and other governance bodies; is responsible for the development and successful implementation of adequate risk mitigation plans, manages resources: anticipate and follow up on project budget and address resource issues with line management, works with TAOC (Therapeutic Area Optimization Committee) to develop compound strategy and contributes to HCV franchise strategy, participates in due diligence evaluation of licensing opportunities and contract review on relevant projects. The candidate works with Function Heads to select CDT members, set goals and objectives for CDT members, mentor and guide CDT members, and determine performance evaluation of CDT members. Advanced Degree in Health Sciences or MBA is required, PhD or M.D. is desirable. At least ten years of pharmaceutical industry experience overall and/or with a minimum of 5 years of drug development experience are preferred. Significant work experience (at least one year full-time) in a minimum of two of the following functions: Pre-Clinical or Discovery, Chem-Pharm, Regulatory, Commercial, Clinical, or Project Management. Experience in a leadership role within a multi-functional R&D organization is required. Expert knowledge of the HCV drug development process and the competitive environment is a strong plus. Experience in preparing at least one successful Global Registration File is an asset. Ability to integrate all New Product Development disciplines into a successful strategy and project plan. Strong problem solving skills for developing creative solutions and meeting project objectives. Demonstrated influence, negotiation and conflict resolution skills, including the ability to influence without clear reporting authority. Strong planning and tracking skills. Demonstrated ability of strategic thinking and contingency planning. Up to 20% travel (domestic and international) is required.
