Currently, we have a great opportunity for a highly motivated, hands-on professional to join our team.

Specifically, you will:

• Assist manager/supervisor in the development and execution of ongoing projects, including the design, construction and implementation of space, systems and devices needed to support research and development progress
• Create and maintain SOP’s for preventative maintenance and operational procedures as necessary
• Perform routine and preventative maintenance on all facility machinery and equipment, including but not limited to HVAC systems including steam, laboratory instruments, de-ionized and reverse osmosis water treatment systems, emergency generators, vacuum systems, compressed air and laboratory gas systems
• Maintain equipment and certification records and assist with the registration of necessary permits
• Manage maintenance contracts necessary to keep all equipment and systems in a condition consistent with industry standards and accepted engineering practices
• Assist in the management of construction projects
• Perform building mechanical system installation, repair, and maintenance
• Respond to alarms and/or pages from the environmental monitoring system 24 hours a day/7 days a week, alternating on-call responsibility within the Facilities Engineering Department
• Perform the appropriate work required in response to facilities requests received through the Work Request System
• Monitor building environment through the use of environmental monitoring and building control systems and report any necessary changes
• Conduct facility walkthroughs, noting any issues needing attention and facilitate their repair
• Maintain a current driver’s license and drive in accordance with Amylin’s Travel Policy while traveling on company business, conducting company business or using company-sponsored vehicles
• Perform all responsibilities in accordance with company Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), practices safety rules and appropriate industry and regulatory guidelines, rules and regulations

This position requires:

• An HS diploma or general education degree (GED) with at least 6+ years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Proficient mechanical skills using appropriate hand and power tools, and experience using a wide variety of diagnostic tools used to test, troubleshoot and repair
• Experience managing building fire systems and building and environmental control systems, such as HVAC and lighting
• Demonstrated experience with HVAC equipment, including chillers, cooling towers, air handlers, humidifiers, steam boilers, hot water boilers, pumps, air dryers, air balancing, and testing of equipment air pressure; the management of water systems such as de-ionized and reverse osmosis systems; and low voltage electrical systems as well as security and sensors in environmental monitoring systems
• Thorough knowledge of various hydraulic, pneumatic and electronic systems, facility electrical systems up to 480v, and facility emergency diesel generators
• A solid understanding of laboratory and office machinery and equipment, such as laboratory gas manifold systems, ultra low freezers and incubators and compressed air and vacuum systems
• Experience with remote water purifiers.
