ARCA biopharma, located in Denver, CO, is engaged in the development and commercialization of genomically-tailored therapies for heart failure and other cardiovascular diseases. We currently have an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented professional to develop, implement and maintain a combination of accounting systems.

Specifically, you will:
• Prepare journal entries and maintain/reconcile ledger accounts
• Provide records of financial transactions, including assets and liabilities
• Prepare income/balance sheet statements
• Maintain receipts and disbursement reports
• Prepare federal, state and local reports and tax returns
• Participate in the month-end closing process
• Assume accountability for a broad range of monthly account and journal entry activities
• Take control of day-to-day stock option administration, including processing option grant and exercise documents
• Facilitate all Accounting Department responsibilities for new employee orientations and termination check-outs
• Work closely with the Controller as the key contact on all annual, quarterly and statutory audits
• Ensure compliance with government agencies for property and franchise taxes
• Process all AP transactions, including bi-weekly payroll through PEO provider

This position requires:
• A BA/BS in accounting or equivalent
• 4+ years of related experience
• Advance knowledge/experience in the application of generally accepted accounting principles
• Previous experience with stock options
• The ability to maintain confidentiality in dealing with sensitive issues
• PC proficiency with Excel, Word, and accounting software applications
• Biotechnology/pharmaceutical experience is desired.
