Senior Outsourcing Coordinator
The Nonclinical Outsourcing, Business Operations group provides outsourcing services for Development Sciences and Research departments by identifying, selecting and securing Contract Research Organizations (CROs). This position serves as the single point of contact for selected studies and effectively manages outsourcing services. Responsibilities:The Senior Outsourcing Coordinator will proactively identify and maintain a portfolio of CROs that meet current and anticipated business needs. This individual will understand current and emerging CRO services, capabilities and industry trends. This position will manage the following CRO services to Genentech: resolve CRO site management or quality issues; ensure continuous CRO service improvements; negotiate study requirements and costs and maintain contracts in conjunction with Study Operations Contracts team; and collaborate with Genentech scientists and CROs to implement standard practices for study conduct and reporting. The incumbent will collaborate with scientists during the CRO selection process, and perform CRO site/facility evaluations. This position will develop and maintain Outsourcing processes and systems that support outsourcing activities. This individual will work closely with Study Management personnel on study-specific CRO issues, and act as the back-up to the Nonclinical Outsourcing Manager. Requirements:The candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences or a related scientific field or equivalent job experience, with a minimum of 5-8 years of industry experience in drug development. Direct experience with outsourcing (procurement), nonclinical site evaluation, nonclinical study conduct and GLP regulations is a plus. The incumbent must have working knowledge of the drug development process and cross-functional operations. Excellent communication skills including negotiation, collaboration and the ability to effectively build strong working relationships are required. This individual must demonstrate effective organizational, planning and project management skills. The proven ability to build and maintain internal and external partnerships is imperative. The candidate must have strong problem solving skills and good judgment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential. The applicant must have demonstrated experience in process improvements and implementation of new systems. This individual must be detailed oriented, with ability to multi-task and work in both an individual and team-based environment. Ability to plan and organize effectively is required. Occasional travel, both domestic and international, is also required.
