This project manager will support a new to the world therapy for the Regenerative Medicine Cellular Therapies business within Baxter BioScience. The therapy is an adult, autologous stem cell therapy to be launched first in the US. The project is a Baxter Top Project due to its strategic relevance and high value to the corporation. This role will be accountable for communicating the progress of the clinical program, describing inter-dependencies, developing tools to track progress and building contingency plans.  This position will be required to work with and manage multiple functions such as clinical, medical, regulatory, commercial, and R&D. This program manager will need to develop and manage effective project management tools that work with both the external sponsor and internal stakeholders. The project manager is an experienced cross-functional leader and reports to the Cellular Therapies Project Manager Director. Sr. Project Managers provide business and technical leadership for major new products or services. This role, which is the 5th level project management position, involves leading key project teams through the initiation and implementation processes. Sr. Project managers will provide the financial analysis including market research, cash flow, capital, and program positioning. They will collaborate with marketing and business development to develop and negotiate contracts. This person will interact with, and influence senior internal and external stakeholders. In addition, they will manage the program prioritization process. They may lead or participate in other key strategic business portfolio processes to insure that the development programs being funded meet strategic objectives. Sr. Project Managers will make launch date commitments to businesses based on anticipated cash flows and manage stakeholder expectations with regard to Baxter deliverables during development. Sr. Project Managers will typically lead medium-high level PDP or operational projects, life cycle type development projects, programs or platforms and life cycle type capital projects, programs or platforms. The Sr. Project Manager is an experienced project leader and is accountable for overall project implementation activities. This person will serve as a champion of the Accelerated Project Performance and Product Life Cycle processes recognizing how project results seriously impact the overall success of the organization. This person is experienced with advanced PM tools and processes, and has the ability to manage critical situations. The Sr. Project Manager serves as a liaison with the global project management operation in support of further developing project management capabilities across the organization. PROJECT PERFORMANCE Participates in business contract negotiations for new products ­ Participates in the evaluation process for future development projects ­ Identifies customer requirements for new products Recruits qualified team members and establishes roles and responsibilities Provides clear direction on product development requirements to meet expectations of external customers and business stakeholders Interacts through program updates and reviews with all levels of management Establishes project strategy Drives implementation of development programs by establishing development strategy, schedules, budgets, and financial analysis.Maintains direct involvement with R&D, marketing, and regulatory organizations at Baxter and with external stakeholders.Approve team deliverables for project completion RISK MANAGEMENT ­ Responsible for making decisions regarding the appropriate risk when there is substantial program impact ADMINISTRATION May be technical approver Develops and administers team incentive programs Recommends, implements, and manages the appropriate program structure and standard performance metrics throughout all phases from initiation to scale-up Contributes to the creation and maintenance of historical databases for the purpose of tracking, trending, learning, and improving decisions regarding program performance and continuance. Ensures appropriate linkages of this information to the project prioritization and/or product portfolio process.Maximizes business results through continuous improvement in organization's ability to execute programs and projects from initiation to completion and production scale-up.
