Senior R & D Scientist

General Description: This manager-level position will be significantly involved in technical aspects of Product Development from concept to launch. This includes ingredient, vendor, contract manufacturer evaluation and due diligence. Primary task is to provide technical leadership and support to the department Product Managers who are building a short-to-medium range pipeline of new products, while investigating and validating new technologies for long-term implementation.

Work experience requirements: The core duties and responsibilities include the following: Responsible for developing new delivery forms and technology platforms Analyze new product/ingredient opportunities Evaluate ingredient purity, potency, mechanisms of action, and regulatory status. Responsible for contractor relationships and auditing Develops and helps author SOP’s and assists in the development of validation protocols.  Needs to be able to communicate effectively across several different functional areas including Purchasing and Scientific Affairs seamlessly.  Trains less experienced staff in key issues related to quality control of nutritional supplement ingredient analysis.  Provide technical support for product initiatives that are going through clinical trials prior to launch. Assigned additional duties and responsibilities as needed to support business needs.

Education Requirements: MS/PhD degree in Nutritional Science (or related sciences) with 5+ years experience, preferably in the dietary supplement or pharmaceutical industry.
