Senior RA-Pharmacology/Toxicology
Senior RA-Pharmacology/Toxicology We are seeking an experienced Research Associate/ Senior Research Associate to join our Preclinical Operations team. The successful candidate will apply pharmacology/ toxicology expertise to advance our lead projects. The RA/ SRA will schedule, support, and conduct pharmacology and exploratory toxicology and pharmacokinetic experiments using state of the art techniques. The individual should have the capability to understand protocols, order all necessary experiment components and set up, schedule, and manage experiments with precision. The successful candidate will also collect, record, and analyze all preliminary data. The RA/SRA will be responsible for entering data into Excel and PowerPoint and should be highly literate in these programs. Big picture thinkers with great hands a must! The position would entail expert dosing, handling and surgical techniques, preparing and administering test compounds, recording data assessments using physiological recording instrumentation and sample collection and processing with various laboratory instrumentation. It is critical that this person is knowledgeable in the collection of samples for clinical pathology as well as facile with necropsies. Experience with short- and long-term infusions is required. Being able to perform clinical pathology evaluations and in vitro experiments would be a real plus. Additional responsibilities for this position would focus on general lab managerial duties such as stocking and ordering supplies, maintaining lab cleanliness, autoclaving supplies and appropriately disposing of biohazardous and chemical waste. The preferred candidate will be involved in planning and executing external safety, efficacy and/or toxicology studies that can take place at external facilities under sponsored research agreements with contract facilities. This includes qualification of laboratories, planning and finalizing study design, supply of study drug, project management and report review. The candidate will also interact closely with in-house staff in biology, chemistry, biochemistry and analytical staff as needed to ensure proper progression of programs. Requirements include ALAT and/or LATG certification with a Veterinary Technician degree or BS in Biology, Pharmacology, or Toxicology. A minimum of at least 5 years laboratory experience in conducting experiments with the ability to dose by multiple routes (iv, tv, po, ip, infusion) is essential. This contributor will communicate with outside vendors both on needs and timelines and will monitor contract studies in the US and Canada, (ability to travel less than 25% of time).
