Job Description:

Under the supervision of a more senior staff member or director, the incumbent would be responsible for conducting formulation activities to meet pharmaceutical product development objectives. The assignments may be complex in nature and the person may be assigned responsibility for the entire problem, in some cases. The person is expected to exercise a reasonable degree of sophistication in approach to assignments.

Major responsibilities include:

1. Reporting to a more senior staff member, the incumbent independently or in collaboration with others,

  conducts new product development activities including formulation, stability, or compatibility studies.

  Activities also include the manufacture of small scale batches for experimental field trials.
2. Incumbent will be expected to provide detailed plans on how to address issues that would receive

  supervisory approval before initiation.
3. Incumbent is expected to have technical competence which may be highly specialized.
4. Incumbent may lead other professional staff in completion of specific assignments.
5. Collaboration with other staff members, both inside and outside the department, is required. The

 incumbent may represent Formulation Development in specific instances.
6. Develops a working knowledge of GMP and supports department’s Quality and Safety objectives.

Qualifications:

Must have BS or MS in Pharmacy, Chemistry, Biology or related field with at least 5 years experience with a BS degree or 3 years with an MS degree. Experience in pharmaceutical product development or other relevant field is required. Good oral and written communication skills are a must. Must also have the ability to write accurate reports and technical summaries in a timely manner.
