Senior Site Manager, Procurement
Responsibilities:As part of the Corporate Facilities/MRO team, this position will provide leadership and guidance to the leadership teams at the assigned site. Building and maintaining positive relationships with the key stakeholders, internally and externally will be critical to success in this role. In addition this position will be responsible for leading a team of Procurement professionals in meeting the business objectives through monitoring site-specific operational objectives. This position will act as the single point of contact for Procurement at the site for key stakeholders and vendors. He/she will provide leadership and guidance to staff and site management on Class A activities as well as supplier relationship management. The candidate will direct procurement analysis activities and lead the implementation efforts of the enterprise and/or site savings strategies that are generated by sourcing managers for specific categories and Corporate Programs (e.g. Travel, Pcard). The individual will build relationships and effectively partner cross functionally with key stakeholders, external suppliers, corporate sourcing managers and Procurement colleagues. He/she will proactively generate enterprise as well as site specific sourcing options while ensuring that site requirements are met and proactively make independent sound business decisions that have direct impact on the business operations, activities and project schedules. This position will accomplish results and achieve goals through delegating responsibilities and holding Procurement professionals accountable for deliverables. The incumbent will be responsible for managing, developing and leading a team of Procurement professionals who work on a diverse scope of complex problems and initiatives. He/she needs to be innovative and proactive in managing capital purchases and contracts for goods and services, maintenance, repairs and operations (MRO). The Senior Site Manager will build strong partnerships with site operation in identifying options to improve facility performance. He/she will leverage the Procurement Strategy Council, ISM and related industry associations to identify and benchmark best practices for implementation. The individual will optimize growth opportunities by leveraging business relationships including Minority and Small Business concerns, which include the bid, evaluate and award processes. This position will ensure sourcing activity and transactions comply with Sarbanes Oxley. He/she will develop, evaluate and present business case and cost/benefit analyses to the site management team to facilitate sound business decision-making so that the facility reaches optimal results. The incumbent will communicate proactively with stakeholders and sponsors regarding issues and plans for resolution. He/she will demonstrate a proactive approach in meeting facility stakeholder expectations by creating operational agreements to manage expectations. This position will develop strategies and shifts in policies that will facilitate a more efficient and effective result for the business that will impact on the bottom line, and will identify business unit objectives, timelines and budgets that allocate resources for the site. The Senior Site Manager is identified by management as the Procurement expert for external relationships and will represent Genentech at various conferences and events. Requirements:A Bachelor's degree in Business, Science, Engineering or a related field of study is required and a Master’s degree or MBA is preferred. Certified C.P.M. or CPIM is a plus. A minimum of 12-15 years of experience working in Sourcing and Procurement operations in a Manufacturing, Bio-Tech or Pharmaceutical industry with cGMP is required. The incumbent must have a minimum of five years of experience managing a Procurement team in Manufacturing or Operations. The individual must have thorough knowledge of the manufacturing operations, business and the general industry including technical and commercial knowledge of materials and MRO/Facilities related to manufacturing operations. Proficiency with Procurement Systems and tools, and SAP experience is desired. He/she must have experience in controlling significant manufacturing indirect spend and risk and financial modeling skills. Ability to interpret and utilize key financial data is essential. The candidate must have excellent planning and prioritization skills with the ability to multitask and maintain flexibility by adapting to change. He/she must demonstrate skill in planning and leading negotiations and working knowledge in structuring and managing supplier contracts. The incumbent must possess the following abilities: to travel as required between sites to facilitate collaborative opportunities; to lead and motivate a staff of professionals; to interact with all organizational levels; and to demonstrate a professional presence. Excellent verbal, presentation and written skills are imperative to the success of this position. He/she must be highly motivated, organized, detail-oriented, results focused and act with a high sense of urgency. The candidate must demonstrate a "can do" approach in being proactive with work assignments.
