Senior Statistical Analyst/ SAS Programmer - Pharmaceutical Marketing
KMK Consulting, Inc. is currently seeking talented professionals with experience specifically within Pharmaceutical marketing and SAS programming for an excellent job opportunity with our client in East Hanover, NJ.
In addition to the below job description the following are required:
- Master's degree in related field ( operations research, economics, marketing, management science, or a social science field involved with statistical modeling)
- Pharmaceutical and/or related marketing exp.
- 2+ years Pharma exp.
- 5 years related exp.
- SAS Programming exp.
Candidates with all of the above will be given stronger consideration.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Ability to manage numerous projects at the same time. Strong knowledge of SAS/SAS Stat/SAS Macro, Excel, VBA, and basic knowledge of forecasting packages. Ability to operate in a cross-functional analytical team environment. Experience applying these skills to large data sets. Firm foundation in statistics and mathematics with a graduate degree in an applied discipline such as operations research, economics, marketing, management science, or a social science field involved with statistical modeling. Experience with proactive project management and strategic thinking. Knowledge of relevant internal and external data sources within the industry. Interpersonal skills to facilitate interaction with product management and commercial senior management. Desire to maintain skills through formal and informal training.
This position interacts primarily with leadership members of product team, other members of the analytical team deployed to the product team, sales operations, and senior commercial management for the US. An understanding of business conditions and context is important to the successful and appropriate application of the manager’s technical skill to the large data sets being manipulated for business insights.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The distinguishing feature of this position includes deployment to one of the brand team that is critical to the future success of the business. Skill areas include experience working in a cross-functional team environment, ability to work on sales force size and structure and optimization projects, ability to understand and utilize sophisticated statistical analyses, fluency in one or more computer tools, excellent IT skills using SAS, Excel & VBA, good interpersonal communication skills, ability to manage people as well as many projects at the same time, capability to engage in strategic thinking, and an understanding of the business flow in the pharmaceutical industry.
Engage in strategic thinking as it pertains to our annually directed sales force optimization. Assist the brand teams in the development of key segmentation analyses used to address a variety of strategic and tactical business questions. Review and approve plans to execute the call plan every semester that are derived from the sales force optimization process. Assist the product team in conducting within-brand promotion-mix optimization analysis across marketing channels. Potential to manage personnel at the analyst level – managing workflow, mentoring, guidance, etc.
Understand relevant internal and external data sources and their functions or uses. Apply advanced statistical procedures on a wide array of data sets (examples include advanced regression analysis on aggregated and disaggregated data models, discrete choice modeling, ANOVA and ANCOVA tests, cluster analysis, factor analysis, time-series forecasting). Explain results of the procedures to the clients in the business terms they understand. Create user-friendly decision-support analytical tools based on empirical findings for business applications. Build credibility among key clients on the brand teams. Own responsibility for the validity of the statistical, computer modeling and business focus of the projects supported (while the client owning the “outcome”).
Identify and structure business problems with customers that reflect mutually agreed upon market dynamics and uses data processing skills to build complex computer models that express those dynamics. Capability in applying deeper technical skills and knowledge that is shared across the functional area (e.g., deep knowledge of key data sets, modeling capabilities, etc.). Demonstration of a high level of understanding of the points of integration of our work and that of our colleagues.
