Currently, we have a great opportunity for a highly motivated, hands-on professional to manage  the operations of complex storage and backup infrastructures encompassing robust replication and array based data mobility.

Specifically, you will:

• Implement SAN, NAS, backup, management, and troubleshooting services for the varied enterprise systems
• Establish policies for and administer storage and backup platforms
• Direct other technical staff and consultants on storage and backup projects
• Install large scale, inter-connected, enterprise class storage and backup infrastructures
• Conduct disaster recovery testing, preventative maintenance, and capacity planning
• Support multiple/concurrent projects by working closely with Business Units to gather needs and requirements to formulate and deploy optimal solutions
• Analyze system faults/performance issues, troubleshoot, and run diagnostic tests to detect problems
• Interface directly with vendor technical support personnel
• Develop, test and maintain a comprehensive Storage and Backup Systems Business Continuity Plan (BCP)
• Manage system documentation including standard operating procedures, routine status reports and testing and implementation
• Establish and maintain a system of project management related to Amylin’s storage and backup systems
• Establish, maintain, and enforce policies related to business use of storage and backup systems
• Provide support for storage configuration, provisioning and availability to Business Units and Enterprise Applications
• Perform necessary storage and backup infrastructure maintenance in accordance with Amylin’s change management policies
• Participate in the evaluation of new SAN and backup products and technologies
• Participate in the continual review and improvement of existing operational policies and procedures in compliance with the vendor’s best practices

This position requires:

• A BA/BS in IT, Engineering or related field or equivalent experience/certification
• 5 years of experience in a large IT Operations environment
• 3 years of direct experience in supporting a production highly available EMC DMX environment, including SRDF A/S, TimeFinder and ECC
• 3 years of direct experience supporting an enterprise class backup infrastructure
• 3 years of direct experience in supporting production fibre channel SAN switching infrastructure (Cisco MDS experience preferred)
• 3 years of direct experience in supporting a production highly available NAS environment (EMC Celerra cluster experience utilizing CIFS and NFS protocols preferred)
• A proven track record of enterprise storage, backup and recovery in complex SAN environments with multiple Unix/Windows hosts across a distributed computing environment
• The ability to be available 24/7 to provide emergency support
• Excellent presentation and written/verbal communication skills
• Thorough knowledge of job associated scripting languages
• A solid understanding of product/technology/industry knowledge
• PC proficiency with MS Office and Unix/Linux server operating systems (Windows clustering experience a plus)
• NetBackup and Data Domain experience preferred.
• EMC, Cisco, Unix/Linux, Microsoft Windows/Exchange certifications a plus.
