Primary Function:

Manage, maintain, install, recommend, and support UNIX and Windows based, messaging, application and database servers. Manage and monitor the security of all IS resources from unauthorized access. Manage workload in order to effectively provide systems and network support to all Cytyc users.

Responsibilities:

Daily administration and operation of a corporate data center and remote facilities maximizing availability.
Maintain a high level of server and network security to protect corporate resources from unauthorized access.
Ensure thorough server backups and disaster recovery plans exist for all production IS systems.
Install, test, maintain, design and document supporting systems, utility programs and monitoring tools.
Provide through, timely, accurate level 2 or 3 technical support to all Cytyc users.
Continually monitor and evaluate the operational, storage and security needs of Cytyc.
Act as a liaison to software and hardware vendors for technical support and product updates.
Evaluate and recommend new technologies that will benefit the company.

Education and/or Experience:

BS in Computer Science from four-year college or university; or at least six years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Extensive knowledge of all computer hardware and software including Windows, HP-UX, Sun Solaris server operating systems and Windows desktop systems
Functional knowledge of current best practices for securing servers, pc’s and data centers
Solid understanding of network computing including file, print, application, web and database servers as well as Microsoft Domain concepts.
Understanding of Microsoft IIS Servers environments.
Must be able to work reliably with minimal supervision.
Must be able to adjust to constantly changing business priorities.
