Job Description Senior Web and User Interface Designer Position Summary: Senior Web and User Interface Designer – creates and updates web pages, works with Content Management System (CMS), creates tracking reports, designs e-Mail templates. Essential Functions:1. Design a large variety of online projects from concept to implementation, including but not limited to:• Websites (internal/external)• Online product interfaces• HTML e-mail newsletters and templates• Banner and rich media advertisements • Flash applications, presentations and interactive demos• Graphic imagery (buttons, icons, etc.)2. Work with coders and programmers to maintain quality and consistency on all Fisher Scientific interactive materials.3. Work as part of a team to develop user interface and web layout, partnered with cognitive design specialist, customer advocates, and development4. Manage own project workflow while coordinating with project teams and management on schedules, requirements, goals and assignments as needed.5. Ensure that applications of company brand and imagery are presented with continuity across all online company materials.6. Ability to proactively own the brand and stay within the confines of our brand standards.7. Ability to proactively work cross-functionally.8. Participate in concept development efforts.9. Work to innovate through new interactive software trends and techniques.10. Apply user interaction principles to the design; establish and document standard web design guidelines11. Regularly evaluate and optimize company’s web interfaces12. Accurately track time allocated to tasks, add projects and maintain status on a project list13. Take a lead role in the inventory, design and implementation of templates in the Fishersci content management system14. Take the lead in maintaining documentation on branding and visual design standards and guidelines for Fishersci.com15. Take the lead in documenting standards for specific design elements – such as navigation elements, form elements, etc.16. Create a document of “design patterns” to serve as a library of consistent and proven techniques to solve specific design and interaction problems. Use examples from other web sites.17. Assist in documenting exceptions and acceptable solutions that may apply in specific markets or cultures.18. Work as part of team to develop processes and internal procedures for the management of graphics on a Content Management System19. Help design look-and-feel, functional and behavioral specifications, and visual design for content, navigation, and specific pages and templates.20. Help analyze needs and current behavior / capabilities for specific functional areas, design / recommend improvements, and work with project teams to effectively implement new specifications. Skills and Abilities:1. Web Design2. HTML3. Extensive experience with Dreamweaver4. Proven ability with Photoshop and/or Fireworks, plus Illustrator and other graphics applications.5. User Interface experience6. e-Mail newsletters and templates7. Interwoven or other Contact Management System experience8. Banner and rich media advertisements 9. Flash applications, presentations and interactive demos10. Graphic imagery (buttons, icons, etc.)11. JSP, JavaScript, PERL, ASP or other web programming skills Minimum Requirements/Qualifications: Required level of education: Bachelors preferredRequired area of study/major: Computer Science, Graphics Design, or CommunicationsRequired licensure/certification: NoneRequired level of experience: 5yrsRequired area of experience: Web/Interactive design.Or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or licensure/certification.
