Service Engineer

The field service engineer position will provide in-house customer support for Sequencing instruments at our Branford, CT site.

Job duties include but are not limited to:


• Install, upgrade, repair, and maintain instrument systems.
• Troubleshoot and repair instrument system problems.
• Submit service reports and "Bug" reports in a timely manner.
• Enter work performed in service database in a timely manner.
• Maintain accurate service spares inventory.
• Revise/review SOPs.
• Write FSB's from field experiences.  
• Work with Engineering and Technical Support to report problems and develop solutions.


Qualifications:

• BS or equivalent in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, related degree with knowledge in the biotechnology/biomedical industry, or applicable military experience.
• Must be highly motivated and have strong problem solving ability.
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
• Must have good technical writing abilities.
• Must be able to work both independently and as a team member and possess a customer service attitude.
• Computer experience and literacy a must. Working knowledge of Windows and Visio a plus.
• Must be flexible in working hours as this position may require customer support during non-regular business hours.

• Must be able to comprehend, speak, read, and write the English language.

• Must have the ability to lift 45-50 pounds for extended periods as well as kneel and/or bend to access lower section of machines.

• Previous experience with repairing, building  or troubleshooting 454 Life Sciences Sequencing instruments is highly desirable.
