UOP has an excellent career opportunity for a Pilot Plant Shift Technician, Building 11 Team Member within the Technology R&D organization in Des Plaines, IL.

 

Position Responsibilities:

- Accountable for operating and reviewing data on an assigned group of pilot plants according to specifications.

- Accountable for observing and working in compliance with HS&E policies and procedures.

- Accountable for communicating problems and current status of assigned pilot plants, including comprehensive turn-over to relief Operator.

- Accountable for routine trouble shooting of pilot plant problems.

- Accountable for recommending and assisting with the implementation of quality and productivity improvements.

- Indirect accountability to provide technical support services of the customers in the SBUs. This activity will include advising the customer on the setup of pilot plant runs and making recommendations for the improvement to the operations.

- Normal work schedule is a twelve hour rotating shift, during which the Technician is accountable 24/7 for operations in his workload.

 

In this role, the focus will primarily Plot Plant start up, operation and shutdown, during which the Technician interacts with the in hands on mechanical operation as well as computerized operations and data generation.. The Pilot Plant Engineering Technicians work closely with the Building Leader, Building Technical Resources and the entire shift and day staff to coordinate plant operations, assist with plant troubleshooting, and assure quality data production. The Pilot Plant Shift Technicians report to a Building Team Leader, and may be assigned work in many facets of our operations as work load dictates. A working knowledge of computer based process controllers for control, and PI and Plantbook for data gathering are needed in this position. The successful candidate will have a record of safe work practices, and possess good interpersonal skills.

Basic Candidate Requirements:

- Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent.

- Ability to comply with safety policies & procedures related to the operation of pilot plants.

- US work authorization.

- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and computer literacy abilities.

 

Additional Candidate Requirements:

- Demonstrates a strong commitment to Safety Excellence.

- Strong interpersonal communications skills & abilities.

- Familiarity with operational tools such as Excel, PlantBook & PI ProcessBook preferred.

- Ability to function well in a team based environment.
