Software Engineer 4D Algorithms

Contribute to the design, development, and release of real-time software and test applications of the Calypso Medical 4D Localization System.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Develop real-time data simulations to support automated unit and system test. Includes specifying, developing and testing data simulations for multiple points within the real time datapath. Efforts will include developing: Record and playback mechanisms
Test data design and coverage analysis
Test vector design and coverage analysisDevelop test software associated with localization system algorithms as specified. Participate in the technical definition, refinement and testing. Includes porting test vectors for algorithms from MATLAB to C++ or C#. Develop hooks/harness software within the Calypso 4D Localization System in support of unit and system test. Develop/deploy tools and mechanisms to improve the organizations ability to measure and track quality improvements. Participate in technical project reviews and application code reviews. Design, develop, test, and document assigned software components for real-time, multi-threaded, multi-process, distributed software application. Actively assist in resolving integration issues. Assess and recommend performance enhancements within assigned components as needed. Develop appropriate documentation for work products in support of our FDA-complaint development process. Effectively interact with multidisciplinary team members including hardware, software, software test and algorithm engineers. Follow all company safety policies and procedures while ensuring quality work. Handle changing priorities and other duties as required.

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIESMay participate in technical discussions regarding items such as product features, system performance, and workflow with visitors (such as Physicists and Doctors) to Calypso. May suggest or develop specific procedures or tools to improve efficiency in Software Department's policies and processes.

SCOPE OF WORKOperates within standard software development and corporate guidelines. Exercises judgment and independent decision-making in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Responsible for own work products. May coordinate activities of other personnel as Team-or Feature Lead. Networks with key contacts outside areas of expertise.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS2+ years experience in developing applications or test software for distributed multi-threaded, multi-process, and multi-tiered applications or test software. Experience in scientific programming or test development, prefer familiarity with MatLab. Ability to translate from MatLab into practical C++ and/orC#. Strong mathematical aptitude including computational analysis, linear algebra, numerical analysis, and statistical problem set analysis. Demonstrate proficiency with Window development platforms. Experience on multiple operating systems preferred. Prefer .NET experience. Strong ability to understand and refactor code written in C#, or C++ and Java. Clear, effective written and oral communication. B.S. in C.S., engineering, or physics. M.S. preferred.

PREFERENCESExperience with Test Automation Frameworks such as: Visual Test, Mercury Interactive, Expect, Nunit. Experience static and dynamic analysis tools such as: FxCop, Purify, Vtune. Experience developing framework for non-intrusive, interactive analysis and debugging of Windows. Experience with scripting, web languages, and distribution architectures, including two or more of the following: Windows Shell Script, Perl, JavaScript, VBScript, NAnt, HTML, XML. Experience with clinical and empirical validation of medical applications preferred. Experience in the development of medical devices or device instrumentation highly preferred. Surgical navigation, treatment planning and/or medical visualization experience highly desirable. Experience with the entire product life-cycle. Small company/start-up experience high desired.
