JOB SUMMARY: Develop, validate, and deploy software for new biomedical imaging systems.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

·  Develop tools for automatic segmentation, classification, and analysis of biomedical images, including 3D images

·  Design and optimize graphical user interface for medical imaging systems

·  Support machine inspection systems

·  Support image collection in bench-top, pre-clinical, and clinical environments

·  Setup validation protocols. test product, analyze test data, and report Manage distribution and archival of image library in standardized medical format

·  Perform other duties as necessary.

 

EDUCATION:

·  Masters degree in BME, ECE/EE, or CS from an accredited university; or Bachelors degree in BME. ECE/EE, or CS from an accredited university plus 3 years experience with medical image processing.

 

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

·  Advanced knowledge of biomedical signal/image acquisition, analysis, de-noising, classification, and automated feature detection

·  Familiarity with medical imaging device software and hardware user interfaces

·  Proficiency with LabView, C, MATLAB, and general programming skills

·  Familiarity with basic optical physics and fiber optics

 

ADDITIONAL DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

·  Experience with Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) and IntraVascular UltraSound (IVUS) imaging systems and analysis software

·  Experience with real-time distributed computing systems

·  Experience with National Instruments VISION

·  Experience with software design cycle and documentation requirements for FDA and CE notified bodies

·  Experience with DICOM medical imaging standards

 

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

·  Strong attention to details and documentation

·  Interact with close-knit R&D engineering team on a regular basis

·  Communicate ideas and opinions effectively (including verbal, written, PowerPoint, etc.)

·  Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with persons contacted in the course of performing assigned duties

·  Organize and prioritize workflow

·  Assimilate techniques from scientific literature

·  Keep laboratory notebook in accordance with internal procedures

·  Develop intellectual property and support patenting process

·  Remain current with intravascular imaging technology, relevant intellectual property. and relevant medical device industry progress

 

PROBLEM SOLVING AND DECISION MAKING:

·  Will be expected to solve problems in all aspects of product cycle, from basic research through initial specification, validation, and product release

·  Will be expected to convey and support opinions and decisions regarding his/her specialty areas in multi-disciplinary groups of engineers, technicians, scientists, clinicians, marketing, and management.

 

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

·  Infrequent. Approximately one conference or training session per year, plus other incidental travel to meet ongoing project requirements.
