Sr. Cognos Developer/Analyst

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Independently or as a member of a development group, performs system analysis, design, programming, testing, documentation, installation, user training and system maintenance and support. Consults with user management and staff throughout all stages of the development cycle to ensure that systems achieve the user's business objectives. Develops systems observing professional system design concepts and office standards and conventions. Assists users in the evaluation, selection and implementation of vendor software and services. Consults with users on feasibility and appropriate method of automating manual data processing systems. Assists users in the definition of their business objectives relative to automation and development of system specifications. Provides maintenance programming services required to maintain current and operational systems. REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS BA or BS degree in an Information Systems discipline or applicable business related field developing the required knowledge and skills, or equivalent experience. Five to seven years of progressively responsible experience in analysis, development, implementation and support of business information systems, and direct technical support of end-users, preferably in a pharmaceutical, manufacturing or sales environment. Five years of experience in Business Intelligence especially in Cognos BI tools. Two years of experience in Cognos ReportNet including Framework Manager and Report Studio. Java programming knowledge and BW experience is a plus. Knowledge of the methods and techniques of systems analysis, design and programming, and applicable development products, languages and utilities. Knowledge of the BI architecture, relational and dimensional modeling and experience working in data warehouse environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
