Sr. Financial Analyst

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES This position will be responsible for financial planning and analysis support for Operations and R&D. Primary responsibilities include support of FP&A initiatives, Manufacturing COGS analysis and forecast preparation, and R&D analysis and forecast preparation. Will be responsible for preparation of capital investment plan and justification. The incumbent will develop an in-depth understanding of product line activities, the overall pharmaceutical industry, and the Cognos reporting software. Will work with assigned Sr. Manager to complete tasks, suggest improvements, and prepare analytical schedules for management review, and ultimately senior management decision-making. Works closely with business partners to build and analyze detailed annual budgets, monthly forecasts, and long term plans. Fully understands and assists in preparing annual and strategic plan Cost of Goods packages. Attends assigned departmental meetings to review results, budgets, and forecasts for both Operations and R&D. Results of meetings will form basis for future budgets and forecasts. Prepares monthly analyses of budget variances. Investigates and explains reasons for significant variances. Assists in preparation of monthly Executive Management reporting, Executive Reporting Packages, and Annual Planning packages. Assists in preparation of monthly Income Statement Analysis. Assumes primary responsibility for understanding and utilizing the Cognos budgeting tool, and inputting budget and forecasts for sales through margin, plus standardized monthly and annual reporting for manufacturing and R&D. Completes advanced training in Cognos and suggests ways FP&A can more fully utilize the capabilities of the software tool. Implements approved recommendations Generates ad-hoc reports and analyses and maintains database information. Responsible for Capital (fixed assets) budgeting, forecasting, and actual vs. budget analysis for all departments. Works with Sr. Manager and Director to analyze ROI for capital projects in conformance with Mylan Policies. Makes suggestions to improve the logistics of the budget preparation process and the methodology of analyzing budget data. Helps Implement approved suggestions. Develops strong understanding and keeps abreast of changes in the pharmaceutical industry. Ensures the integrity and accuracy of information. Ensures the confidentiality of information. Maintains a working knowledge of departmental budgets and serve as backup to Sr. Managers during vacations or when they may be working on special assignment projects. REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS Demonstrated experience and sound knowledge of cost accounting, financial analysis, accounting theory, and financial reporting Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting. MBA or CPA strongly preferred 5-8 years of professional finance and/or accounting experience in a manufacturing environment. Strong experience interpreting contractual agreements. Excellent problem solving and analytical skills are required. Advanced spreadsheet skills. Significant experience with Microsoft products. BPCS (or other AS/400 platform software), SAP and COGNOS experience preferred. Demonstrated ability to work as a cross-functional project team member/leader to effectively, prioritize tasks to ensure completion in a timely and accurate manner. Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Excellent written and oral communication skills Demonstrated ability to tactfully and skillfully work to resolution when opinions differ. Ability to produce high quality work under tight deadlines. Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work extended hours to meet deadlines when required. Demonstrated ability to present complex information to department heads and other management personnel in a concise and clear manner. Requires ability to discuss issues from a broad business perspective and demonstrate a strong overall business background. Strong organizational skills with ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain confidentiality of information. Demonstrated strong business ethics. DEY supports diversity in the work place.
