Description
Primary Function:
This individual is a technical leader for all manufacturing engineering aspects of electro-mechanical process for auditory devices.
Hands on Senior Manufacturing Engineering responsible for questions and decisions about auditory mechanical devices and processes. This position requires the ability to provide technical leadership from a design, tolerance, writing and/or verifying specifications, maintaining product/process documentation, testing processes, equipment, raw materials and product, adn validating equipment and processes.
The Sr. Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for supporting and achieving the cumulative survival rate, quality and yield for auditory implantable devices, for working with the R&D department from the initial concept phase and into production to insure the quality and business objectives are met.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
Responsible for the electromechanical manufacturing for implantable devices, including project development and process improvements leading to improved yields and increased market share.
Participation in the product level design and manufacturing process, as well as development of specs, schedules & test plans related to product performance and product design changes.
Support new product development efforts associated with Implantable and External products, such as electrode, seal implantable devices, head pieces, product automation and micro-electronic packaging processes.
Organize, plan, track and complete manufacturing and design problems associated with product performance in production, quality and product associated with field returns.
Special Knowledge / Skills
This position requires a high energy, self-starter, hands-on, direct & clear communicator, honest, genuine, confident & secure. Good interpersonal & motivational skills necessary.
Ability to specify, design, analyze, simulate, build, test, document & release to manufacture electro-mechanical systems and processes. CAD skills a must.
Ability to analyze electrode arrays, hermetic feed-through and other components associated with implantable devices.
Education / Training
BS degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Process Engineering or equivalent. Masters degree preferred. Evidence of continuing education in technology development and applications as well as advanced manufacturing tools and processes is a must.
Other areas of Key Importance:
1. Experience with key Six Sigma manufacturing principles including lean, DEMAIC, Kaizen events, JIT methodologies.
2. Technical leadership: Have a record of successful product transfers into production as a manager.
3. Operating Style: Self-starter, hands on, direct and clear communicator, honest, genuine, confident and secure. Good interpersonal and motivational skills are a necessity. A broad technical and manufacturing engineering knowledge base is required. Ability to multitask and work and succeed in high pace environment is a must.
4. Ability to communicate, influence and garner support for designs and initiatives Required Experience
Minimum 10 years in a manufacturing environment assisting in product improvements, improving yield and supporting production with engineering and manufacturing needs.
At least 5 years of prior management experience is required Knowledge of implantable and biocompatible devices is also required.
