The Senior Tech II works on routine assignments as well as assignments that are extremely complex in nature, where independent action and a high degree of initiative are required in resolving problems and developing recommendations. Acts independently to determine methods and procedures on new assignments and may train other nonexempt personnel. Performs operator duties in assigned area within the production facility to produce bulk drug substance. Trained on all operations in cell culture/ fermentation, recovery, capture and purification. Complies with safety requirements, current Good Manufacturing Practices, and Standard Operating Procedures. Coordinates the cleaning, assembly and preparation of equipment according to written instructions. Operates equipment including bioreactors, filtration and chromatography equipment. Coordinates production activities with other groups Monitors and adjusts equipment operation Coordinates process sampling and routine measurements Ensures that data is recorded, activities logged, and processes monitored appropriately. Interfaces with automated production systems and controls. Assists in the review of batch records for completeness and accuracy. May author or revise standard operating procedures. Takes an active role in the start up and validation of new equipment or new suites. May train other nonexempt personnel. General Production activities include: - performing CIP and SIP for portable tanks, assembling and preparation of tanks. - cleaning, setting up and maintaining seed and production bioreactors. - inoculating and maintaining spinner seed cultures using aseptic techniques, maintaining cell banks and performing general seed lab operations. - cleaning, sterilizing and operating fixed vessel systems for media preparation, cell culture, fermentation and harvest operations.Shift is Wednesday through Saturday, 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.QualificationsAssociates Degree with 6+ years relevant experience or BS degree with 4 years experience.Previous experience in cell culture, Purification, and Core Support(buffer, media preparation a plus). Cross training in all three areaa of manufacturing: Cell Culture, Purification and Support.
