Sr. Scientist, Process Development

Join an energetic process chemistry development group in the Boston area. Synta Pharmaceuticals is seeking a Sr. Scientistto join our expanding small molecules process development group. The successful candidate will lead efforts to solve complex problems related to process development and scale-up novel API's. This candidate will also work closely with Analytical Research and Drug Product development, and provide leadership to do technology transfers and demonstrations with Contract Manufacturing Organizations (CMO).

Responsibilities:

Develop efficient processes for large scale synthesis of novel APIs.

Work closely with Analytical Research to develop in-process controls and raw material, process intermediate, and API specifications.

Interface with the Drug Product group during early development and scale-up.

Assemble technology transfer packages.

Oversee technology transfer to external CMO for GMP manufacturing.

Monitor manufacturing timeline and communication with external CMO.

Provides troubleshooting to Manufacturing and serves as technical resource.

Provide technical leadership to the process chemistry team.

Qualifications:



Ph.D. in organic chemistry (may consider M.S. in chemistry with appropriate experience) with 5 years experience in process development and API manufacturing, preferably under GMP environment.

Exceptional problem solving skills.

Excellent written and presentation skills.

Ability to prioritize multiple projects and achieve under an aggressive timeline while delivering high quality results.

Supervisory experience highly desirable.
