Sr. Scientist - Process Development R&D

We have an opening for a Senior Scientist, in our Process Development R&D Department at our San Antonio, TX location.

Function:
To conduct process development projects with an emphasis on developing sound manufacturing processes for pilot batches to full scale commercial batches. These processes are designed for semi-solid and liquid dosage forms such as creams, lotions, ointments, gels, suspensions, solutions and aerosols.
Accountabilities:
1. Conduct development projects; apply a broad grasp of scientific theory and technical principles to assignments that are difficult and require ingenuity.
2. Prepare proposals and evaluate experimental results; define solutions from an assessment of multiple alternatives. Maintain a level of scientific knowledge in assigned area; perform scientific literature searches and evaluations as required and understand/comply with accepted laboratory and safety procedures.
3. Plan, perform and approve development activities. May serve in a technical capacity or position of responsibility (such as CHO-Chemical Hygiene Officer) for safety awareness.
4. Prepare technical reports and SOPs. Record, evaluate, analyze and interpret experimental data. Prepare and organize data for presentation at internal meetings.
5. Work closely with internal and external departments to ensure the efficient progress of projects.
6. Perform literature searches. Be familiar with MS Office and Lotus Notes. Possess and train others in use of advanced or specialized scientific software.
7. Act as a mentor/advisor to more junior members of the department. May be required to supervise the day-to-day work of junior staff (including Scientists and Technicians/ Technologists).
8. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
1. PhD or equivalent with 0-2 years (entry level) related experience and/or training is required.
