Sr Staff Engineer, IT Systems

Support the Applied Biosystems I.T. organization  in the development of enterprise technology architecture, roadmaps, and evaluations. Support IT with systems engineering best practices, systems engineering methodologies, consultation and reviews of proposed technologies and products, systems and designs.

Primary Responsibilities - Primarily responsible for the evaluation and planning for the technology and infrastructure aspects of IT's project and systems landscape, including the SAP landscape.- Propose, develop, and deploy technology standards - Support application and infrastructure designers- Provide mentorship and coaching in best practice approaches to system architecture and system engineering.- Develope standardization of practice and improved engineering rigor, convergence when appropriate, and managed diversity where required.Secondary Responsibilities - Global Technology Process owner - Act as liaison to PMCoE for resource coordination within Infrastructure Operations - Develop & deploy repeatable processes - Coordinate the creation and update of technology standards - Develop and maintain technology roadmaps - Ensure the on-time and on-budget delivery of projects and services - Execute the Problem Management process for some instances; delegate as appropriate for others Required Interactions - Infrastructure Operations managers- Applications Managers and Staff - Business Management Managers and Staff - Infrastructure Operations Director - Vendors, end users, customers and clients - End-users.

Job Skills- Senior information technology specialist, with broad technical, business, and relationship skills.- At least 12 years of significant IT experience, with at least 5 years of high-level (at least divisional, enterprise preferred) IT architecture, modeling, and design experience, including experience with multiple IT architectures and technologies required.- Experience with system capacity modeling, analysis, and forecasting - Project management experience, system development experience, and IT operations experience highly desirable, as well as broad experience with IT processes, and best practices.- Experience with IT vendor evaluation (hardware, software, services) is a plus. - Experience with both traditional technical architectures, and emerging ones.Job Knowledge In-depth knowledge of the following areas is required: - Platforms and Operating Systems- Database and ERP technologies - Contemporary and traditional engineering methodologies - Availability and reliability engineering - Capacity planning and performance analysis In-depth knowledge of the following is highly desirable: - Application development - Virtualization and resiliency technologies - Replication, business continuity and disaster recovery technologies.Additional Job Abilities - Able to solve complex problems, use creative and analytical thinking, find innovative solutions - Have a holistic view of systems and processes and act as a facilitator/mediator among specialized subject matter experts - Development and application of formal models to address real-world situations and problems - Collaborate, mentor and learn - Follow, evaluate and promote new emerging technologies - Translate high level strategic business and technology initiatives and architecture principles to tactical solutions - Help plan projects and design complex infrastructure landscapes that fulfill the business requirements - Facilitate technology roadmaps, work on domain architectures and contribute to design reviews -Bachelor's degree (B.S./B.A.) in Computer Science, Business Information Systems, or related field or equivalent experience. - Completion of graduate level coursework or advanced degree in Business or Computer Science discipline desirable. - Minimum of 12 years experience in IT where increasing levels of responsibility and capability have been demonstrated.Submit Your Resume Online Now
