Sr. Supplier Quality Engineer (264888-609)

Responsible for overseeing supplier management activities to initiate and assist in continuous improvement processes and for ensuring that suppliers deliver quality parts, materials and services. Qualifies suppliers according to Intuitive Surgical's standards based on sound sampling science and understanding of product risk. Monitors parts from acquisition through the inspection cycle to communicate and resolve supplier-related process problems as they occur, and works cross-functionally to identify and rectify issues. Develops and prioritizes an auditing schedule to ensure that designated suppliers are audited on a regular basis to ensure GMP's and quality standards are met. Provides critical information regarding supplier performance and current and future capability during Commodity Team meetings. Evaluates suppliers' internal functions to assess their overall performance and provides feedback in assessment of their operation. Develops world class suppliers through the use of Six Sigma techniques, and helps quantify, share, and balance the cost of quality against other supplier costs that Intuitive Surgical bears.



Roles and Responsibilities:Supplier process development through the use of Six Sigma techniques.Program Management.Monitoring of supplier delivery and quality.Coordination and implementation of root cause corrective action for supplier processes.Corrective and Preventive Action leadership, including concise and complete documentation of plans and actions, suitable for careful audit by internal and regulatory bodies.Supplier selection and evaluation, including auditing, surveys and evaluations.Provision of supplier quality information to management and customers.Preparation of product, program, or supplier quality status reports as required.Maintenance of supplier contracts.Supplier-quality-related new production introduction.Provision of technical support to Purchasing for supplier and component consolidation.Establishment of qualification plans, monitoring supplier improvement and efforts towards supplier certification.Generation of summary data and compilation of supplier scorecards.Responsibility for supply chains readiness: assure qualification to support the ramp of required programs.Review and closure of customer complaints.Contribution to Intuitive Surgical's effort to continually improve the SQE function and its relation to other functions.Required Skills:BA or BS degree or equivalent Successful history of implementing Six Sigma programs, as the responsible supplier quality engineer, at more than one supplier. 7 years related experience in Supplier Quality or equivalent experience Significant expertise using Windows, Word, Excel and Access and ERP Information Systems (preferably QAD MFG PRO) Knowledge of GMPs and experience in a high volume medical device company is preferred Ability to read and interpret detailed mechanical drawings and communicate technical information Knowledge of supplier processes, specifically; metal fabrication (machining, turning, molding), joining and finishing, plastic injection molding and extrusion and wire cabling are required Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
