Supervisory Responsibilities: Day to day supervision of service technicians. Establishes schedules, oversees assigned repair/preventative maintenance activities. Fields/authorizes employee request such as time-off. Directs the development & implementation of activities in service area to meet production goals, quality and cost objectives. Work with Manager to maintain a safe work environment and support/implement work practices that ensure the safety of the group members. Prioritizes work load and establishes schedules. Evaluates personnel performance and prepare/present performance reviews. Works with Manager to establish annual compensation planning for employees. Establish and aid in execution of development plans for employees. Mentor employees for ongoing development. When necessary, evaluate and select new personnel through recruitment and hiring activities. Technical Responsibilities: Maintain hands-on technical expertise for a majority (if not all) platforms and instrument types for which the group is responsible. Conduct training for employees and maintain proper level of cross-training within the group to assure coverage in all areas and on all technical procedures. Periodically review and update all technical procedures in the area to assure procedures have the highest level of effectiveness and that ISO compliance is maintained. Oversee and/or carryout development project tasks as needed (new instrument evaluation, implementation of process improvements etc.). Work, along with Administrator, to make sure the group has all parts and supplies necessary to fulfill all responsibilities/obligations (stockroom, cycle count etc.). Coordinate with Administrator to assure that the proper metrics are kept, communicated and posted on a regular basis (control board, scorecard etc.). Maintain employee training records to assure compliance within the area. Maintain proper level of cross-training within the area to assure coverage in all functional areas and on all technical SOPs.

 

Strong communication and "people" skills are crucial. Must be able to multi-task and prioritize in an environment with constant change (in order to keep the plant instrumentation up and running). Must be technically skilled with instrumentation for which the group is responsible (DNA synthesizers, Robots,HPLCs, Mass Spec. etc.).  This is a "non-traditional" supervisory position. The expectation is that this supervisor will continue to participate in repair, PM, install and upgrade activities, contributing approximately 80% of their time to "DL hours".Submit Your Resume Online Now
