Staff Engineer, Software

Major Responsibilities:

* Technical lead and developer in the development of instrumentation control software for the Applied Biosystems next generation of DNA sequencing instruments.* Develop software for controlling the instrument's high-speed CCD camera imaging system and reagent delivery system.* Must attain a thorough understanding of all the instrument components and their operation within the instrument.* Must provide requirements input and evaluate any new or replacement components that will be under software control.* Must adhere to industry good practices for development of commercial grade software.* Must provide design documentation and present in design review meetings.* Must work closely with the software test group to ensure thorough testing of software.

Skills/Knowledge:

* BS degree and 8+ software development experience.* 8+ years Java, C/C++ experience.* 5+ years of experience in instrument control software development.* 2+ years of experience with CCD imaging systems preferred.* Experience with versioning control software (e.g. SVN or CVS).* Working knowledge of UML highly desired.* Understanding of LabView a plus.* SQL, relational database experience a plus.* Understanding of molecular biology and genomics a plus.* Ability to work as both part of a team and independently, and with all levels of management and staff.* Good communication skills, both oral and written, a must.* Experience delivering commercial quality products.Submit Your Resume Online Now
