Staff Packaging Engineer - (Job Number: 0714755) DescriptionEthicon, a member of Johnson and Johnson's Family of Companies, is recruiting for Staff Packaging Engineer to support the Somerville, NJ facility. Ethicon, Inc. develops and markets products for surgery, wound management and advanced wound care treatment . Products are marketed through four divisions: Ethicon Products for precise wound closure and tissue repair; Cardiovations for minimally invasive cardiac procedures; Ethicon Women's Health & Urology for minimally invasive women's health procedures; and Johnson & Johnson Wound Management for hemostasis and advanced wound care. The Staff Packaging Engineer will provide technical expertise in the areas of design, research and development, testing and production scale-up of new packaging components and systems relating to biosurgical products. The individual will lead packaging projects related to Brand maintenance or expansion, cost savings initiatives, innovative package development and environmental goals. The Staff Packaging Engineer will determine and coordinate physical testing to ensure product and package integrity for manufacturing through end user. The individual will manage co-op students or non-exempt personnel as needed. The Staff Packaging Engineer will execute packaging projects in compliance with Federal, Local, and Corporate guidelines and laws in the USA and Internationally. A minimum of a Bachelor's in Packaging Science or related Engineering field and 5 '7 years of relevant experience OR a Masters in Packaging Science or related Engineering field and 3 ' 5 years of relevant experience is required. This position requires a candidate to have hands-on experience with packaging designs from concept to final product. It is preferred that the individual have packaging experience in the biosurgical, pharmaceutical and/or biopharmaceutical industries. The candidate is required to be proficient in Microsoft MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint). Experience with MS Project and computer aided design software (i.e. Auto CAD, Pro/Engineering, SolidWorks) are considered assets. Additional training and/or certification in Process Excellence (Green Belt, Yellow Belt, Black Belt) and/or Project Management (PMP) are highly desired. The individual must have excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to negotiate and interface with cross-functional teams both internally and externally. Global packaging experience within a multi-cultural environment is preferred. Packaging awards, patents and other milestone accomplishments are highly regarded. The successful candidate will have a creative and entrepreneurial approach to support the department. The position requires up to 15% domestic and international travel and is located in Somerville, NJ.
