Strategic Sourcing Manager (R&D, Drug development)
Responsibilities:The job holder maximizes the value delivered to Genentech through third party expenditure and the management of internal costs. He/she manages a portfolio of spend cost categories in Research and Development (R&D), working cross-functionally with internal stakeholders and external suppliers. This position is responsible for developing, maintaining and implementing sourcing strategies and managing third party relationships and performance. The incumbent will manage a portfolio of categories covering R&D functions. This position will manage spend between $100M to $150M, and develop and manage source plans for assigned spend categories, by leading cross-functional teams to develop value enabling Sourcing Strategies. He/she will define, understand and analyze business needs for equipment, materials and services and supply market information. This position will generate and analyze innovative sourcing options, building sourcing strategies to maximize value and manage supply risk, whilst ensuring that internal stakeholders' requirements are met. The incumbent will ensure third party alignment, capacity and support for existing and future GNE requirements. This position will work collaboratively with the Global Procurement Services team, to ensure the alignment of transactions to the agreed sourcing strategies. He/she will maximize opportunities to leverage spend, through Roche collaborations. This individual will participate in Roche category teams, and utilize Strategic Procurement Council, ISM and related industry associations to identify and benchmark best practices. The incumbent will provide growth opportunities to Small Business Concerns; including, as appropriate, in the Bid, Evaluate and Award process. This position will increase overall awareness to stakeholders, and ensure that sourcing activity for the personal spend cost portfolio complies with Sarbanes Oxley. Requirements:The candidate must have a Bachelor's degree in Business, Science or a related field of study; a Master’s degree or MBA is preferred. Certified CPM is desired. The incumbent must have a minimum of 8-11 years of Procurement experience. Proficiency with SAP is imperative. This individual must have strong relationship building skills, internally and externally. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work well in a team environment and to adhere to highest ethical standards are required. This individual must be process oriented with strong analytical skills and creative problem solving capabilities. The incumbent must be highly motivated, results focused and act with a high sense of urgency. Strong analytical skills and creative problem solving capabilities are required. The candidate must demonstrate a "can do" proactive approach in handling work assignments. Thorough knowledge of the business, markets and industry of operations is essential to this role. This individual must be dedicated to meeting stakeholder expectations, developing strong relationships with stakeholders and consistently deliver on requirements. He/she must be highly effective at initiating and leading cross-functional teams, building cross-functional relationships and developing cross-functional understanding. The incumbent must have experience in establishing and building successful supplier relationships. Ability to execute plans and communicate decisions in an effective and timely manner is required. The candidate must have demonstrated skill in planning and leading negotiations, and have experience in structuring and managing supplier contracts. Effective time management and organizational skills are required. This individual must have technical proficiency with appropriate procurement systems and tools. Experience controlling significant direct/indirect spend is required. The incumbent must have risk and financial modeling skills and ability to interpret and utilize key financial data. He/she must have demonstrated resourcefulness and versatility in responding to change.
