Basic Qualifications:

Positive interpersonal skills, demonstrated competence in personnel management, and the ability to work with a diverse group of scientific customers.
5-7 years experience in most aspects of study delivery core functions.
3-5 years experience in a GLP/Safety Assessment environment.
Knowledge and understanding of the drug discovery and development process.
Good oral and written communication skills.
Ability to plan and organize effectively.
Ability to generate new and innovative solutions to accomplish objectives.
Strong customer delivery mindset and ability to concentrate on the business needs and requirements of customers.
Understand and demonstrate ability to work within a matrix environment.
Must have experience and knowledge in study delivery competencies and experience supervising a team.
Bachelors degree.

Preferred Qualifications:

Country/Local professional certification or equivalent preferred.
Strong technical/procedural background enabling direct oversight of animal study and care activities

Job Details:

The Study Delivery Team Leader will ensure full integration of all study delivery components including study support, a core animal care and welfare program and daily animal facility requirements.
Lead a Study Delivery Team of ~10-15 technical staff. Schedule workloads in partnership with Safety Assessment customers and other dependency groups to ensure day to day successful delivery of in vivo study support. Provide metrics demonstrating the utilization of allocated resources and develop an understanding of key customer group priorities for the GSK programs supported. Ensure the flexible use of staff resources for maximum efficiency.
Manage resources effectively and ensure a number of Study Delivery sevices are prioritized; manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
Promote a study delivery team culture which integrates the professional disciplines of in-vivo study support and quality animal care & welfare. Ensure a level of understanding and practical application of the science associated with the work supported and a basic understanding of the GSK R&D drug development process. Resource formal and informal training on technical procedures involving the use of animals.
Matrix with all dependency groups both within and external to LAS. Participate in strategic initiatives within LAS and with customer base as required.
Ensure the motivation and personal development of staff with focus being given to development aligned to the key areas of customer support.
Proactively manage staff performance and complete annual performance and development reviews. Recruit new staff and make recommendations for merit increases/promotion.
Act as the single point of contact on a day-to-day basis for customer groups and ensure that a broad skills base is in place to support the requirements for the local in-vivo studies. Act as a resource for investigators by providing advice on procedural, surgical, animal technology and equipment related issues.
Keep abreast of advancing technology and ensure the sharing of best practices.
Comply with and demonstrate a thorough understanding of regulatory and safety guidelines (e.g. LAS SOPs, R&D Safety Policies, etc.). Ensure all animal studies comply with appropriate animal welfare standards.
Ensure all country and local regulatory and compliance requirements as well as AAALACi accreditation is maintained.
