Summary: Coordinates the repair and preventive maintenance of machinery and equipment. Supervises the maintenance technicians. Troubleshoots and determines root cause of equipment failures and develops solutions to prevent future events. Drives the preventive maintenance program under the guidance of engineering and the facility/maintenance manager. Supervises the installation, development and testing of new machinery and equipment under direction of the engineering and scientific staff. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Maintains and reviews project instructions, equipment drawings, manuals and specifications to determine maintenance and operating requirements for sustained machinery operation. Works to develop long lasting solutions to recurring problems/failures on equipment, to include the modification of material, parts, or components. Ensures the quality and validation of all repairs and modifications. Sets up and conducts tests of equipment that has been modified, repaired or installed. Investigates proposals for modifying equipment or its operation for increased performance or to obtain requested data for development, standardization, and quality control. Analyzes test results in relation to specifications and test objectives and then modifies or adjusts equipment to meet specifications as needed. Maintains tools, supplies and spare parts inventory for equipment and critical systems. Maintains and executes preventive maintenance program on a scheduled basis to ensure reliability of equipment. Supports engineering in machine validation. Interfaces daily with Manufacturing, Engineering and shop (machine and maintenance) personnel to support manufacturing operation activities. Communicates directives from the Facility Manager to the Mechanical Technicians QUALIFICATIONS: Education and/or Experience: Two-year technical certificate from college or technical school or four years technical experience in lieu of education. Minimum 3 years in a manufacturing/maintenance role. Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as drawings, technical specifications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before small groups. Ability to interface with technical members, vendors, contractors, engineers. Tech/Computer Skills: Windows based programs MS Office E-Mail and Fax Adobe PDF AutoCAD and SolidWorks experience are a definite plus but not a requirement.
