If this is you, we would like to hear from you!Pacific Biosciences seeks a Principal Scientist/Fellow with extensive experience in surface science and surface engineering. This individual should have extensive knowledge and experience with both practical and theoretical aspects of surface interactions of biomolecules, surface chemistry, bioconjugate chemistry, small molecule-protein interactions and applications in biotechnology. A broad knowledge of the pertinent literature is a must, as well as personal knowledge of highly effective scientists in the field who could function as consultants or collaborators. The position requires detailed understanding of surface binding forces, both theoretical and practical. The position requires the solid skills in experiment design, with an emphasis on proper design of controls. The position also requires excellent data interpretation skills. Prior experience in designing or engineering a surface as a component of a commercial product is a plus. University faculty and senior industrial scientists are encouraged to apply. The responsibilities of this position will include technical oversight of a medium-sized group of surface scientists, as well as design of experiments and interpretation of data. Effectiveness at the laboratory bench is a plus, but not a requirement.  Position Requirements:A Ph.D. or equivalent experience is required in Chemistry or related scientific field. 10+ years of relevant industrial experience in bringing innovative surface science to market.
