Systems Engineer

Bioness (www.bioness.com) is searching for an experienced Systems Engineer who has been responsible for project management, system level design, documentation and test plans.  The Systems Engineer will be a member of the R&D team, responsible for systems level development of new products and support of existing products.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

o Assist with the design and evaluation of medical device systems which includes mechanical, electrical, software and process development.

o Define functional specifications for new features or products and develop hardware and software requirements.

o Develop, define and carry out verification and validation tests of equipment, components and systems.

o Be instrumental in developing and maintaining time schedules and manage the development projects adherence to the schedules.

o Provide systems level support to production and field service.

o Assist in generating concepts and designs and implement through procurement, fabrication, installation, and commissioning.

o Assist in defining research that tests and analyzes the feasibility, design, operation and performance of equipment, components and systems.

o Assist in developing and testing models of alternate designs and processing methods to assess feasibility, operating condition effects, possible new applications, and necessity of modification.

o Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation and make recommendations.

o Recommend design modifications to eliminate component or system malfunctions.

 

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:  Bachelor or Masters Degree in a relevant engineering discipline, preferably Electronic Engineering.

 

EXPERIENCE:

o  Requires Three plus years of experience doing systems engineering in medical devices industry.

o  Experience with implanted devices preferred.

o  Experience with transferring products to manufacturing required.

o  Working knowledge of medical device design control systems and documentation to support regulatory submissions required.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

o  Good organizational skills and self motivated.

o  Capable of being both a team member and a team leader.

o  Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Project, Word, Excel and Power Point required.

o  Strong documentation and presentation skills needed.

o  Ability to apply analytical methods to solve design problems.

o  Able to react to change productively and to perform other essential tasks assigned.
