Technical Writer (Donor and Board Relations)

The International Partnership for Microbicides (IPM) is a nonprofit product development partnership (PDP) which presents a dynamic and innovative approach to preventing HIV transmission in women worldwide. IPM garners support from world-class funders — including the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation — to develop and deliver a safe and effective microbicide for use by women, especially those in developing countries. 

 

The Technical Writer will produce high quality reports and written content for donor, board and other key stakeholder audiences. Additionally, the Technical Writer will support other Resource Development efforts including editing, research, presentation preparation and other writing projects. There is a heavy emphasis on being able to translate and report highly technical information appropriately to the target audience.

 

Education, Experience and Abilities

 

·  BS degree, preferably in a scientific discipline.

·  At least three (3) years of demonstrated professional writing experience in a related industry.

·  Background in journalism, advocacy, science global or public health preferably with international or global experience;

·  Interest in policy issues including women's health, prevention and access to medicines;

·  Excellent writing, research, analytical and information monitoring skills;

·  Ability to translate complex medical and scientific data into compelling material appropriate for the target audience;

·  Understanding of the treatment of infectious disease and new HIV treatments;

·  Good interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills and experience.  Developing country experience desirable;

·  Advanced use of Mircosoft Office, PowerPoint and Adobe.
