Technician IV/V
Essential information on the position includes, but is not limited to:
- To perform any support/process duties associated with the continuous manufacture of Merial vaccines. Dependent on the production requirements, will perform and coordinate with others activities associated with the preparation of viral vaccine components.
- Planning/Process (85%)
* Participates in daily scheduling meeting (team)
* Performs hands-on processing according to Standard Operating Procedures
* Completes required documentation in an accurate, concurrent and timely manner
* Prepares laboratory, equipment and collects necessary supplies and media required to execute process
* Collects and submits in process samples to Quality Control using appropriate process and documentation
* Ensures use of proper aseptic technique
* Maintains a safe, clean and organized working environment
* Maintains facilities and equipment as required by Standard Operating Procedures
* Plans and executes production protocols to support Production Technical Support
* Ability to work in various departments within SV Antigen Production
- Communication (5%)
* Communicates processing needs to co-workers
* Communicates progress several times a day to Flow Manager or Supervisor
* Communicates at the time of event any process occurrences to Senior Certified Technician or Supervisor (escalation process)
* Communicates facility and inventory related needs daily
- Assessment (5%)
* Monitors process against manufacturing records, data capture forms and Standard Operating Procedures
* Maintains data capture forms and manufacturing records in a timely and accurate fashion
* Monitors process kinetics to ensure consistent results
* Reviews documentation packages for correctness
* Participates in Daily Performance Review (team)
* Trains/coaches/teaches new employees to obtain required skills
- Systems (5%)
* Ensures proper use of change control procedure
* Files planned/unplanned deviations as required
* Releases active ingredients per Quality Assurance instruction
* Completes batch tickets with materials consumed during execution
* Submits work orders to repair/maintain equipment
* Performs preventative maintenance as required
* Proposes, champions and implements continuous process improvements leading to cost savings or quality improvements
* Provides feedback as to feasibility of improvement proposed by others
* Adheres to defined process sequences
* Ensures that training received and adequate in or to carry out assigned operations
- Safety Objectives in line with Merial processes and procedures:
Demonstrates a commitment to the HSE Program. Works in a safe, responsible manner. Supports safety policies and procedures. Identifies and properly reports unsafe work habits, conditions, and/or practices. Will conduct workplace risk analysis. This position may require the handling, storing, and managing of hazardous waste and this employee shall comply with all applicable state and federal laws. This person must successfully complete the hazardous waste management-training program within six months of their employment of assignment should this be the case. Such an employee must not work in unsupervised positions until they have successfully completely the hazardous waste management training requirements, and must take part in an annual review in addition to the initial to the initial training. This training program includes classroom instruction and on-the-job training to ensure they perform their duties in compliance with the requirements of the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA). The Merial hazardous waste management training program includes all the following elements:
* All departmental managers and supervisors shall successfully complete training in hazardous waste management, and shall provide hazardous waste management training to his or her department’s personnel. Supervisors and managers will ensure that original documentation of such training shall be placed in the employee file located in the Human Resources Department (HRD) and with a copy of the training documentation submitted to the Health, Safety, and Environmental Departmental (HSE).
* The training program includes hazardous waste management procedures which instructs facility personnel hazardous waste management procedures (including contingency plan implementation) relevant to the positions in which they are employed.
* At a minimum, the training program is designed to ensure that facility personnel are able to respond effectively to emergencies by familiarizing them with emergency procedures, emergency equipment, and other emergency systems where applicable.
Qualifications Preferred:
B.S. degree in Biology (or related field) plus more than one year experience.
Minimum: A.S. degree plus 1 year experience, or high school diploma plus 3 or more years experience
