Technology Director, Architect of Platform Infrastructure - (Job Number: 0805193) DescriptionThis position will have overall ownership and responsibility for all services within the server and storage platforms team at J&J. It will provide technology leadership in the areas of: Storage, Backup and Recovery, Server Operating Systems and Virtualization technologies. The infrastructure platforms provide a base for everything from enterprise application such as SAP, ORACLE and Web platforms through to IT utility platforms (file and print etc) and advanced R&D HPCC, niche computing platforms. This role will be responsible for driving and coordinating the overall strategy for evolving infrastructure platforms within Johnson and Johnson globally to meet business demands of the future. It will require focus on all technology areas that make up the platform technology domains and integrating their roadmaps into the overall strategic vision. This position with provide input to and take direction from the Web, Integration and Enterprise application team as well as owning the relationship with the sector level Operating Company architects. Define and maintain an overall vision/strategy for infrastructure platforms looking out across all technology domains over the next 5 years. Work with the Technology Managers in Service Architecture and service Design to ensure their roadmaps track accurately to the vision. Identify vendors and products within the technology domains that warrant evaluation for adoption. Evaluate and approve technology evaluations emerging from Core Engineering. Collaborate with the Architecture and Strategy teams across the J&J operating companies and IT to solicit feedback on trends and futures that impact platform infrastructure. Act as communication focal point for platform strategy for inputs and outputs. Identify areas of convergence across platform technologies. When a major change needs to occur in the platform strategy ensure the necessary engineering activities are road mapped to achieve this. The platform strategy should be holistic and will require the management of complex technology domain roadmaps to assure convergence at the right time. Provide consultancy in the server platform, storage and virtualization areas to major ITS infrastructure initiatives. Input to vendor ranking with sourcing and participate in RFP activities. Program manages the server platform team responsibilities on large initiatives. Provide oversight of complex project architecture reviews. This position will have a strong relationship and interface to all TED and GIS counterparts to design, communicate, propose, and deliver solutions. Provide detailed guidance, project updates, and utilization metrics to IT IS Global Program Management organization. Approximate experience or equivalent knowledge and skills necessary to satisfactorily perform the position responsibilitiesDegree or equivalent preferred. A broad and deep IT experience within enterprise technologies. Appropriate experience focusing on Servers, Operating Systems, Virtualization and Storage/BRA.Project management and chartering experience on large scale infrastructure projects and/or programs in a global context.Extensive engineering and operational experience with UNIX + Linux, Storage Area Networks, Storage Replication Technologies, Microsoft Server Platforms and Virtualization (VMware, XEN) + Consolidation Technologies (UNIX Partitioning, Citrix).Excellent documentation and presentation skills. Clearly communicate strategy and roadmaps to Senior IT Leadership..Strong understanding of key security issues and control mechanisms to protect internal systems and manage legal exposure related to subject area concerns, such as configuration management & assurance, instrumentation & monitoring, policy enforcement, and compliance.Extensive experience is expected in new technology adoption and integrating into an operational model.Working knowledge of Enterprise applications such as Oracle, SAP, JDE and Web Platforms.Working knowledge on Datacenter dependencies in technology adoption and strategic planning.Participation in external advisory boards, vendor customer councils, or industry forums a plus.Ideally you will hold an ITIL2 qualification and be aware of the ITIL3 framework.You will have held previous positions that require the gathering of high level company requirements and translating them into strategic technical activities.You will have led technology programs on a global scale that has multiple vendor interactions and complex deliverables.
