Position Overview

This laboratory support function performs a variety of routine procedures: Logs in new test and reference materials received from clients and vendors.  Responsible for all usage logs, including those for hazardous substances.  Responsible for obtaining missing information from clients, and as such, will confer with clients on a regular basis about test substance information.  Calibrates thermometers for laboratory use, maintains records on refrigerators and freezers, daily calibration and maintenance of balances.  Ships chemicals logged into the TMC as necessary (e.g. test substances to other laboratories, archive samples to clients). Initiates hazard ratings and follows to completion by sending Material Safety Data Sheets through the Industrial Hygiene Committee.  Maintains all paperwork concerning test materials and is responsible for keeping such information and logbooks in the TMC to GLP standards.  Responsible for providing copies of accurate test substance information to study directors and other Springborn Smithers personnel as needed.  Trains other employees in TMC procedures.  Returns unused test substances to clients.  Is present during guided sponsor tours of the TMC.  Must be willing to become certified in proper (legal) shipping requirements for hazardous materials.  Is responsible for purchasing and shipping/receiving when Purchasing Agent is out of the office. Responsible for scheduling maintenance on lab equipment/instruments and the semi-annual pesticide monitoring program.

 

Minimum Requirments:

 Associates Degree in Chemistry or Certification as Pharmacy TechnicianIn lieu of degree or pharmacy ceritification 3 years equivalent work experience.
