We are seeking full and part-time experienced Veterinary Technician(s)/Assistant.

 

Qualifications

Ability to multi task - manages multiple medical, diagnostic, service and/or administrative tasks at one time; quickly and accurately shifts attention amount multiple tasks under distracting conditions without loss of accuracy or appearance of frustration.


Communication skill - reads, writes and speaks fluent English using appropriate grammar, correct spelling, style and vocabulary. Correctly spells commonly used English words and medical terms. Conversational Spanish is an asset


Management ability - effectively enforces policies. Achieves high productive output while maintain high morale. Encourages efforts toward common goals. Understands and utilizes a coaching/counseling philosophy for performance management.


Organizational ability - demonstrates a systematic approach in carrying out assignments. Is very orderly and excels at cutting through confusion and turning chaos into order.


Compassionate commitment to pet care- clearly confidently and professionally presents the treatment recommendation as an advocate for the pet, gaining the client’s agreement to proceed with the treatment best suited to the pet’s current condition and long term health. Act as and advocate for the pet.


Problem solving skills - demonstrates a strong ability to identify, analyze and solve problems. Unusually decisive in handling difficult problems. Translates problems into practical solutions.


Client service skills - consistently provides clients and pets with attentive, courteous and informative service. Gains and shows personal satisfaction from delivering outstanding service, seeing pet health improve and satisfying clients.


Intellectual ability - accurately and consistently follows instructions delivered in a verbal, written or diagram format. Can provide directions.


Mathematical ability - able to add, subtract, multiply, divide, compute ratios, rate and percent, ability to convert units of measurement.


Computer Skills - comfortably and confidently uses a computer and specialized software. prepare Pet Nurse schedules, place weekly inventory orders. Monitor team member performance.


Sales and marketing skills - educate client’s preventive care, pet health needs and hospital services and energetically promote the benefits of optimum wellness program.


Education and Experience - High School diploma or equivalent required. Veterinary technician certification or license or three years of related experience preferred. Six months experience preferred. Certification completion as outlined in the Paraprofessional leadership certification program within one year of employment.

Flexibility - is open to changing situations and opportunities within the hospital and willing to perform all tasks assigned, available and willing to work all hours required to ensure hospital functions efficiently. Willing to assist other areas of the hospital as needed. Willing to transfer to another hospital if certification levels fall below hospital performance.


Independence - able and willing to perform tasks and duties without supervision.
