VP Business Development – Global The Port City Group, Inc. is representing a well-diversified integrated pharmaceutical industry player with a strong track record of 25+ years in chemicals and polymers business.  This company has a global presence with businesses & manufacturing units in India, Europe, and the US. Job Description: The purpose of this position is to drive, generate, plan and implement business development activities in a global perspective for our client and ensure to meet company revenue targets for sustainable growth and profitability and be responsible to the executive management.  Qualifications:  Postgraduate degree in sales & marketing from a premier institute. Candidate with a pure- science background will be an added advantage. Have worked in large or medium sized Biotech in a senior position handling Business Development portfolio and has contributed significantly in achieving the revenue numbers both in Discovery and Chemistry Services. Also has a reasonably big customer base and has closed many deals earlier on. Education Level:  Post graduation is a must Years of relevant experience:  At-least 18 to 20 years of experience with the last 5 years in a senior leadership role with independent P&L responsibility. Key Attributes of the candidate:  The VP – BD position is the top operational position for Business development Discovery Services, Chemistry Services, Informatics, and IT Products and Services. The position reports directly to the CEO. The position is based out of US. The executive will be responsible for: Ø Sustaining the existing Discovery and Chemistry business by maintaining the existing relationships and further enhancing business with pharmaceutical and biotechnology discovery research organizations.  This includes: o  Extensively networking in the industryo  Establishing peer-like contact with potential customers at the Head of research level as well as middle management/scientist level.o  Negotiating and closing dealso  Managing client interface through flawless project executiono  Developing trust and content-based relationships with each client and identifying potential areas for cross selling (i.e. other services) and up selling (i.e. higher value services) at each client.Ø Forging ties with leading bioinformatics/chemo-informatics companies where there might be synergies for joint growth.  This includes: o  Acting as the alliance manager for existing allianceso  Researching and identifying other potential allianceso  Negotiating and managing all new alliances Ø Assisting the CEO to forge ties with academic labs for continuous, value enhancing IP generation.  This includes: o  Networking in the academic community to identify distinctive scientists who may add value through joint-research allianceso  Negotiating and managing International end of all scientific alliancesPrincipal Accountabilities:    Plan, formulate and ensure implementation of Bus. Dev. strategy, including PMT, advertising and PR at the global level. Formulate Business plan and communicate to his direct reports and ensure decimation of information to all associates who are involved in execution. Responsible for the P&L of his organization. Plan and implement business, project and customer retention and development. Plan and manage BD and PMT resources according to agreed budgets. Contribute to formulation of policy and strategy as a top management leadership member of the organization. Recruit, manage, train and motivate direct reporting staff according to business needs in compliance with the company procedures and policy. Manage technology transfers, M&A’s, alliances & partnership assessment and development. Contribute in import / export development process in connection with business development. Execute launch and implementation of new product, New Project and New Business as and when required. Provide guidance in selection & management of vendor agencies.  Conceptualize and manage new Project Development and business development initiatives. Drive brand-building initiatives across the organization and different geographical markets. Plan and manage internal communications and awareness of corporate direction, mission, aims and activities Continuous knowledge up-gradation on market and technology research developments. Driving capability and competency build-up of resources at the organization level. Motivate, inspire, develop and retain people who work in Bus. Dev. & PMT. Liaise with other Functional & SBU Heads to understand all necessary aspects and needs of business development, and to ensure they are fully informed of business objectives, purposes and achievements of the business. Responsible for Talent attraction and management of his organization.
