AV Technical Support Technician
Under the direction of the Director Audio-Visual Services this individual will provide support of audio/video systems; media control systems and instructional technology for faculty, staff, and students. The position is responsible to oversee the maintenance and operation of audiovisual equipment used in classrooms, conference rooms, and auditoriums including sound, video, projection and related equipment such as SP Controls, Extron, AMX or Crestron Control equipped presentation spaces, Video Teleconferencing Systems (VTC). The position will provide technology support and training on a variety of technology needs including hand held devices, wireless technologies, fixed and mobile computing equipment.
The position is responsible for first and rapid response to all faculty, staff, students, and presenters that use the classroom and presentation technology. Install, troubleshoot, and maintain audio/video devices and associated wiring used in the classrooms, conference and auditoriums (such as DV, Digital Audio recorder, LCD projector, HD technology, Crestron and Extron control system, etc.) Routine and proactive testing will be completed to ensure functionality of equipment prior to use. Any repairs for the CUMC AV/Classroom technology will be coordinated by this individual. Training, demonstration, and documentation - developed by this individual - will be offered to any person who will be expected to use the equipment. Equipment lifecycle replacement planning and management falls under this individual's responsibilities.
The successful candidate is expected to work with minimal supervision, receives general direction from the supervisors, and must be able to work independently or in teams on assigned tasks with a high degree of technical judgment.
The successful candidate will have experience with operation, setup, installation, troubleshooting, and diagnostics of audio-visual equipment, equipment control systems, VTC and CCTV; working knowledge of computers, video displays, audio controls, signal distribution, recording systems, network devices, computer operating systems (PC and Mac), and Microsoft Office applications, and including general knowledge of TCP/IP protocols. Demonstrated and well-developed oral, written, interpersonal, and training skills are desired. Excellent customer service, interpersonal, telephone, organizational, or and written communication as well as demonstrated problem solving skills required. The ability to maintain positive relationships with colleagues, faculty, departments and vendors under stressful conditions. Qualifications
Bachelor's degree plus 1 year experience
Knowledge of professional audio and video cable wiring, routing, and signal protocols
Knowledge of basic alignment and calibration procedures for audio and video devices
Ability to do basic component level electronic repair
Basic computer and networking knowledge
Knowledge of Crestron and/or Extron control system
Minimum of three years professional experience providing linear and non-linear audio/video support services
High level of organization and efficiency
Ability to coordinate and complete projects with minimal supervision
Available to work evening, nights and weekends
Experience in academic environment is preferred
