Copy Editor

Responsibilities:

Netflix seeks an intelligent, eager, flexible, detail-oriented copyeditor to join our Site Content Team as a contractor for a 6-week period. This person will work remotely to copyedit internally and externally written site copy (movie synopses, actor/director biographies, etc.). He/she will also write copy as needed, including synopses, descriptive site content and talent biographies, as well as fulfill any other editorial site content needs. He/she will also input copy via content production tools.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate has a passion for movies and will take a high level of pride and ownership in the site and our content as it affects our customers. This person must be highly detail-oriented, self-motivated and skilled at fine-tuning copy to improve clarity, readability and appeal. He/she must have a solid command of the English language in regard to grammar, fact-checking and mechanics. In a nutshell, we're looking for a person who takes initiative, is a quick learner and always remembers to dot the i's and cross the t's.

Primary requirements include:

• At least five years of professional copyediting experience
• Previous professional writing experience
• Extensive familiarity with the Web
• Previous experience with content production tools
• Experience writing for movie-related content preferred
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to manage a high-volume workflow
• A BA in English/Journalism or equivalent
• Must be able to adapt to house style
• Extensive familiarity with both AP Style and Chicago Manual

This is a contract position for 6 weeks, 40 hours per week. Payrate is $28/hr if input synopses; $25/hr if solely copyediting.
