CITY: New York STATE: New YorkCOUNTRY: USAEssential Functions (Responsibilities):Director will generate maximum, positive press for SciFi's programming. Work closely with SVP on developing channel PR strategy and prgming campaign plansGenerate publicity for SciFi prgming and channel branding in consumer, business and trade press via strategically pitched trend stories, executive/talent interviews; and creatively written press releases. Active outreach to trade press to service the channel's daily and weekly ratings news and prgming announcements.Communications support for all broadband and digital/wireless/ecommerce initiatives. Oversight of the network's communication strategy for our suite of broadband channelsAct as media strategist, campaign planner and spokesperson for assigned shows Develop positive relationships with talent, producers, PR agencies and representatives, agents, managers, production staffs, media and prgming executives in order to ensure maximum coverageActivities will include program strategy development, business stories, ratings releases, planning and execution of title campaigns encompassing all print, broadcast and online activities, special events, research, radio promotions and integrated sales support/brand marketing functions Create and supervise electronic press kits, special clip reels, satellite media tours, press junkets, print interviews, on-set visits, photo shoots and broadcast and production related activities for the cable channel Generate all press materials including releases, bios, captions, feature stories, talking points, story synopsis, pitch letters and correspondenceService daily media requests and act as network source of information on programsMonitor competitive environment via daily review of competitive/industry news, and interface with other departments and entertainment cable channels on an as needed basisWork closely with SciFi's Entertainment team to present the network and its prgming in the most favorable lightQualifications/Requirements:Basic Qualifications:Must have a minimum of 7 years publicity experienceExperience pitching, booking and covering national and local media interviews necessary Have consumer and trade press contactsHave contacts and experience in marketing and digitial for cross-over opportunities with advertisers and clients Eligibility Requirements:Interested candidates must submit a resume/CV online to be considered (note job#: 813464).Must be willing to work in New York, NY.Must be willing to take drug test and submit to a background investigation.Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.Must be at least 18 years old or greaterDesired:Prefer television publicity experienceIndividual must exhibit strong interpersonal, writing, pitching, and presentation skillsIndividual needs to be able to work both independently and with a teamAbility to juggle and meet numerous deadlines and identify press opportunities Proactive, master multi-tasker, creative and strategic thinking plus strong external and team communication skills a mustProven skills in launching shows, crisis management and interfacing with all levels of executives, talent and mediaStrong written and verbal communications skills required Superior organization and creative skillsGeneral:NBC Universal Cable, a division of NBC Universal, one of the world's preeminent media companies, drives the company's cable strategic development and growth including video-on-demand, pay-per-view, HDTV, TV EST (electronic sell-through), TV Wireless distribution and retransmission consent, and oversees the cable distribution, marketing and local ad sales of fourteen properties (Bravo, CNBC, CNBC World, MSNBC, mun2, NBC Weather Plus, SCI FI, ShopNBC, Sleuth, Telemundo, Telemundo Puerto Rico, Universal HD, USA and the Olympics on cable).
