Distribution and Programming Director
CITY: Burbank STATE: CaliforniaCOUNTRY: USAEssential Functions (Responsibilities):The Distribution and Programming Director will report directly to the VP of Digital Entertainment and play a critical role to drive success and scale for original programming by tapping into the plethora of distributions options across the NBCU family of companies. As the team builds out original content, it is imperative that we have a programming and distribution plan in place that allows us to reach as many of the target consumers as possible in a unique and differentiated manner. In addition, we will need to forge strong relationships with existing and potential channels in order to create new opportunities for specific demographic targets and unique content.Create overall distribution strategy that leverages the online, out-of-home and offline channels that will provide audiences of scale for compelling consumer content.Negotiate with internal and external partners to understand the "what" and the "how" of distribution options - including any revenue sharing or hard costs associated with these channels.Be the resident expert during the pitch phase in terms of audience and content opportunities for original programming and deliv a strategy that maps to client demographic, scale and programming needs.Work closely with Executive Producer and Brand Strategist to build out the "story" around distribution options - not just the metrics - on a deal-by-deal basis.Once a deal is closed, coordinate and manage distribution deliverables to the large number of channels.Provide ongoing optimization and reporting between channel partners and Brand Strategist/clients.Be plugged into new cutting-edge opportunities for distribution and representing the team during discussions about potential programming strategies with internal and external teams.Support promotion and distribution negotiations As necessary, present during pitch and reporting directly to senior clients.Qualifications/Requirements:Basic Qualifications:Bachelors degree from a 4 year collegeMinimum 5years of experience at an agency, media company, research or sales organization with responsibilities including optimization, distribution, programming and content strategy. 4 years experience working in this capacity in the online space.Eligibility Requirements:Interested candidates must submit a resume/CV online to be considered (note job#: 807185). Strong written and oral communication skillsAbility to communicate clearly and effectively and to develop strong selling story/content/distinct positioningComfort presenting to large internal and external senior audiences and ability to adapt and respond on the fly in such environments with unparalleled levels of composureUnderstanding of the content creation process, promotion, development and execution process and experience executing promotionsStrong interpersonal and management skills with the ability to lead teams and interact with internal and external clientsUnique ability to work in a cross-functional environment and drive consensus-building and cooperation between disparate groups of internal constituents.Thorough knowledge of brand and media marketing and the sales processComfort and familiarity with trends and opportunities in cross-platform content exhibition/distribution Solid project management, marketing and strategy experienceStrong analytical skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneouslyStrong Computer skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc) and presentation proficienciesDemonstrated leadership skillsGeneral:NBCU Digital Entertainment is a newly-formed team with NBC Entertainment chartered with creating breakthrough original content and programming for key advertising clients that is distributed across the myriad of digital and offline properties within the NBC portfolio.
