Reporting to the EVS Encoder Supervisor, the Encoder Support Specialist is responsible for the deployment, installation, and maintenance of client audio/video encoders. Principal Accountabilities:1)Analyze and document television signal path and advise correct location of encoder placement in client plant. ** Critical for the proper passing of video and audio code to Nielsen Homes and reference sites.2)Setup and configure client encoders.3)Enter all client/encoder information in appropriate databases, especially Encoder Management system.4)Assist client with encoder installation. Ensure expected code is being delivered.5)Provide client customer support.6)Analyze and resolve encoder issues related to audio and video code on MMS reference sites.7)Enter problem incidents in appropriate databases.8)Provide user acceptance testing for new hardware and software releases.9)Provide input to encoder manuals and ensure accurate documentation is provided to client. Additional Responsibilities:Inform client of correct location to install encoder in broadcast plant. Add information to Encoder Management System.Contact station engineers to troubleshoot problems. Enter correct client information in client encoder(s). Logon to client encoder remote (with clearance from client) to troubleshoot encoder. Troubleshoot and resolve encoding problems and issues under short service contracts. Determine encoding objective of the client and providing correctly configured encoders. Direct client thru encoder installation, setup, and successful checkout. Download software upgrades and keep software revision accurately tracked and up to date.Maintain current satellite feeds.Complete tasks between departments with multiple priorities.QualificationsKnowledge and Skills Required1) Degree in Electronics or equivalent experience to understand how analog, standard definition digital and high definition digital signals are processed and affected by audio/video encoding equipment.2) Excellent oral, written, human relations and problem-solving skills in order to gain cooperation of TV stations, Network broadcasters, and other encoding groups.3) Experience in use of computer software programs, including MS Access, Word, Excel, NAVE GUI Interface, NACAT, Unified Site Support, Remedy, Encoder Management desireable.4) Familiarity with broadcast equipment and signal path scenarios at satellite, cable, and over-the air television plants.5) Knowledge of oscilloscopes, signal strength meters, and VOM.6) Thorough knowledge of setup and operation of NAVE, DNUE and NUE encoders desirable.
