Full-time Interactive Developer Opening at Boston Productions
Do you get excited about coding buttons that play videos? Have you evercreated dynamic rollover graphics for simple Flash web applications?Yeah, we know you have, and you’ll probably need to do some ofthat. But we’re interested in what you haven’t done yet.Maybe it’s create a multi-player interactive educational gamingexperience that combines 24 touch screen stations, a three screen HDvideo presentation, and lighting, sound and atmospheric effects. Itcould be designing a 7-foot interactive wall that visitors can use tolook at live photos from Google Earth, streaming weather data, andwatch how climate change is affecting both. And hey, let’s behonest, you’re probably going to have to create a few down-statesfor buttons in the process.
Boston Productions is a multimedia production company that producesvideos, interactive media, and immersive theater experiences formuseums across the United States. Recent clients include: HersheyChocolate Company, Smithsonian Institution, College Basketball Hall ofFame, and the International Spy Museum. We are looking for anexperienced interactive developer to join our team.
As an Interactive Developer, you will program touch-screeninteractives, websites, and engaging media experiences for museums,zoos and special venues. You will participate in creative development,interactive programming, prototyping software and hardware, andensuring proper QC of deliverables. Excellent communication skills andthe ability to collaborate are extremely important as a project teammay include a video editor, graphic designer, scriptwriter, and theinteractive programmer. You should have a broad knowledge ofinteractive development techniques and in-depth software knowledge inFlash, Dreamweaver and Photoshop and in technologies like XML,ActionScript, CSS, and HTML. Helpful skills include familiarity withvideo encoding for the web and stand-alone applications, the ability todiagnose and solve basic computer problems, and some knowledge of AdobeDirector, Illustrator, and Acrobat. Since we do many on-siteinstallations, some travel my be required.
We don’t need you to know it all, but the willingness to tryanything is important. We are a small, but growing, company and beingon our creative team requires wearing more than one hat. Most projectswe take on involve an aspect that’s new or different than whatwe’ve done before, so if you like sticking to just webdevelopment, making button states, or don’t feel comfortable withintegrating animation, audio, video, and interaction together, thisprobably isn’t the job for you.
