HBO Sr.Oracle DBA

The database analyst will provide Oracle support for 24x7 mission-critical broadcast-related projects as well as Microsoft SQL Server support for web-based projects at the HBO Communications Center. The analyst will also support data replication from the HBO Communications Center to remote facilities for disaster recovery purposes.

Responsibilities:

* Architect, implement and support Oracle Grid Manager to support Oracle database environment at HBO Communications Center
* Architect, implement and support Oracle 10g Real Application Clusters as well as Oracle 10g Data Guard on Sun Sun Fire Solaris and IBM X-Series Linux servers to provide uninterrupted database access
* Architect, implement and support disaster-recovery facility at remote sites
* Architect, implement and support data backup locally and remotely utilizing Oracle RMAN
* Support Microsoft SQL Server databases on clustered Microsoft Windows Server 2003 platform
* Tune databases to provide maximum performance
* Troubleshoot database problems as well as being able to recover a failed database
* Work with Broadcast engineering personnel to design and integrate databases on clustered hardware and storage systems as well as to administer databases proactively utilizing existing and custom-written management tools
* Work with Corporate Information Technology database analysts on joint projects

Requirements:

* College degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
* 10+ years experience in Oracle as well as 5 years experience in Oracle Grid Manager, Oracle Real Application Cluster, Oracle Data Guard and Oracle RMAN in a corporate environment
* 2+ years experience in Oracle 10g
* Proficient in data analysis, data modeling and SQL
* Solid knowledge of Oracle and Oracle Real Application Cluster architecture
* Working knowledge with Linux, UNIX and Windows environments
* Familiarity with computer networking
* Position requires independent work with little supervision as well as a great deal of communication between different groups within HBO
* Position requires after hours support and travel
