As a Dolby Implementation Engineer, you will serve as a direct liaison with manufacturers of integrated circuits or developers of software libraries that implement Dolby licensed technologies. You will also work with manufacturers of professional market products to ensure that the audio performance and functionality meet Dolby standards. Primary responsibilities include interacting with licensees and license applicants regarding technical, quality, contractual, financial and public relations activities related to technology licensing, including email, telephone and face-to-face meetings at locations throughout the world. You will also interact with various groups within Dolby to resolve licensee technical and licensing issues, provide business information and improve Dolby’s testing materials and processes.


You will complete assignments independently, interpret generally defined practices and methods, apply knowledge and understanding of customer needs and provide training and guidance to others.

Essential Job Functions:

Produce complete and accurate evaluation reports as required to verify performance of implementations and professional products and to promote and maintain the quality and value associated with Dolby trademarks. Review test results from licensees, interact with Implementation Evaluation Technicians and ensure testing of implementations and professional products submitted by licensees in accordance with established procedures, specifications and guidelines.

Provide support to Licensees and License applicants as needed to conduct the business of technology licensing using a diplomatic, professional and service-oriented approach, including email, telephone and face-to-face meetings at locations throughout the world. Maintain records of licensee communications in the corporate electronic information system.

Take the lead in providing customer feedback on Dolby materials. Work with technical groups within Dolby to resolve licensee issues and improve Dolby tools and deliverables. Help define and improve licensing and testing processes.

Increase own knowledge of various Dolby technologies, as well as in theoretical and practical fields related to the job. Learn tools related to job functions. Increase knowledge and exposure to consumer electronics and other fields of activities pursued by Dolby through trade shows, seminars, conferences, and educational events.

Become a technical expert in specific areas related to Dolby technologies, address in-depth technical issues and help provide training to others. Contribute to the recruitment, training and development of the technical staff.

Requirements:

BSEE or similar (Physics, Engineering Technology, Mathematics, Computer Science, etc.) and 0-2 years of experience in consumer audio or related fields. More senior candidates may be considered under a revised job description.

Experience must include exposure to Digital Signal Processing and at least one of the following areas: Software development, technology licensing, analog and digital circuitry, PC architecture, audio/video computer design, broadcast technologies or testing consumer electronic products.

Good written and verbal communications skills, ability to work independently to achieve goals established in a team environment.

Occasional travel may be required for this position.


Desired:

Exposure to professional audio/video product applications is highly desirable, as is experience with microprocessor programming.

Interest in music, audio/video production, recording engineering, broadcast engineering film audio or acoustics desirable.
