Position Summary:
HBO.com is seeking a dynamic and innovative art director to design websites that connect fans to their favorite shows and that are as innovative as HBO's programming and brand. This individual will play a key role on a team that is advancing the HBO site to the next." Additionally, they would work with programming creators and executives to translate their unique vision to the interactive platform. Ideal candidates will have an expert knowledge of design; including video, action scripting, photography and treatments, color, and typography. The Art Director reports to the Creative Director and leads a team of designers, production artists, and information architects.
Responsibilities:
* Responsible for the look and feel exploration, conceptual and visual development, and final execution of design directions for HBO, Cinemax and individual programming sites.
* Manage a design team that includes designers, production artists and information architect.
* Integrate company branding, video, animation, still images, text and audio into a cohesive web environment
* Assign project resources and set direction.
* Spearhead and set web design parameters, style guides for internal projects and vendors, ensuring designs follow visual standards as well as enhance user experience.
* Oversee information architecture and design development as well as the graphic production.
* Oversee the creative design and execution of portal advertising needs (banners, content modules, etc.)
* Advise and recommend to the Creative Director in design direction as well as provide solutions for design projects.
* Provide structure and recommendations in the process of developing designs. Interface with other departments in the development and execution of web designs.
Requirements:
* 5-7 years of web design and motion graphics experience, strong team management skills, strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to review and categorize information, analyze problems, provide solutions, prioritize conflicting schedules and information, a strong visual background with a thorough understanding of graphics and typography.
* Bachelor's degree in graphic design or equivalent
* Expertise in Photoshop, Illustrator, Quark and image optimization software.
* Solid understanding of the parameters and technical constraints in publishing languages such as: HTML, DHTML, JavaScript, and Flash.
