CITY: Boca Raton STATE: FloridaCOUNTRY: USAEssential Functions (Responsibilities):The Medical/Health Writer Editor, Health Centers, creates and manages consumer content that focuses on health and medical topics, ranging from women's and children's health to conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, cancer, arthritis, allergies and asthma. Develops compelling, engaging, and up-to-date content that educates and informs consumers in a friendly, understandable and helpful tone/voice Conceives of, writes and edits health and medical content that is engaging, accurate, and current Fact-checks and copy-edits content. Maintains core content accuracy and timeliness through regular scheduled reviews and coordination with medical expert reviewers. Develops e-newsletters and alerts Writes engaging headlines and hyperlink text ("touts") that drive traffic Stays up-to-date on news and events related to medical and health topics Uses knowledge of health and conditions topics, combined with expertise in online health consumer behavior, as well as excellent writing and editing skills, to develop compelling and engaging online programming Coordinates with producers of packages that effectively integrate content, tools, video, community, medical experts and third-party content Works with matrix teams such as design, photo, technology, video, community, sales, marketing and PR, as needed. Works with research and metrics team to assess site performance, ensure proper tracking and effectively implement SEO Coordinates with medical experts and other sources for content development and review Takes on other editorial and content management tasks as neededQualifications/Requirements:
Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree (Journalism, English, Communications), plus minimum 2 years writing and editing consumer health/medical content, preferably in an online environment Minimum one year of experience in using content management systems (Vignette 7 preferred) as well as familiarity with using Microsoft office (e.g., Microsoft Word); use of SEO in writing/editing Minimum one year of experience in communicating with/reaching consumers on health-related and/or women's and lifestyle topics
